Perfect Beginner Motorcycle?

As a beginner in the realm of motorcycles, especially if you're going from a car enthusiast's perspective, most of us aren't able to distinguish the intricacies of different styles of bikes and the way they ride. We can, however, take a look at the cold, hard facts when making a decision. So, let's take a look at the facts that make the Honda Rebel 500 a great beginner bike.

Performance

Let's start off by talking about the power of the Honda cruiser. The 471 cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin, four-stroke engine is capable of a top speed of 100 miles per hour, which is not too fast, but definitely not too slow. The 6-speed transmission comes with Honda's slipper/assist clutch, which helps make shifting less challenging. Another big plus for beginners. The bike also has hydraulic ABS brakes at the front and rear to bring it to a halt quickly and safely.

Ride Quality

The Rebel 500 has very nice ride quality by all accounts. You won't find it wobbling around at higher speeds. And the ergonomic design of the riding position means comfortable cruising in the city and on the freeway, but also great maneuverability on twisty canyon roads. And the fact that the Rebel 500 weighs less than it's competitors makes it easier to handle, and therefore perfect for a starter.

Fuel Efficiency

The impressive 2.96-gallon fuel tank gives the Rebel 500 a great riding range. With 67 miles per gallon, long road trips, or even commuting to work every day can be done without many stops at the gas station. The DOHC power plant is bullet-proof, powerful, and efficient at the same time.

Style

Of course, looks are subjective. But there is something to be said for classically beautiful motorcycle proportions. And the Rebel 500 genuinely has one of the most objectively strong aesthetics one could ask for from a motorcycle in this price range. The blacked-out mechanical elements of the Rebel 500 give it a modern and tactile look that exudes class. And with a starting MSRP of $6,299, the 2021 Honda Rebel 500 truly punches above its weight class.
