Finding a Way

For some, cars are just simple modes of transportation. Thus, many people don't care what they drive, so long as it's reliable and comfortable. But for the rest of us, cars are an extension of ourselves, and we demand much more from them. That certainly applies to Marby Enriquez, the owner of this first-gen NSX recently featured at DSport. And that's why he had to find a way to own one of these gems, even though he isn't exactly flush with cash, and early NSXs are skyrocketing in value.

Making It Happen

Enriquez searched for months to find the right car and eventually came across this one sitting at a dealership back in 2014. He immediately fell in love, but its $48,000 asking price wasn't exactly within his price range. So what did he do? Well, Enriquez proceeded to trade in his car, plus secure a loan to cover the rest. "I’m not the richest guy, but if you really want something, you have to make it happen," he said.

Road Course Warrior

We certainly wouldn't recommend putting yourself in a tough financial situation to obtain any car, but in this case, it worked out. And unlike a lot of folks who start dumping money into their financed rides, Enriquez actually drove the car as-is for some time before modding it. The first order of business was to give the C30A some power, with a goal of making it a road course warrior.

More Power

Enriquez's goal was to extract around 450 horsepower from his NSX, and that process got a solid jump start with a Whipple supercharger. He then added a Walbro 255 fuel pump and 1,000cc injectors, along with an AEM Series 2 to manage the whole thing. The result of that work was 380 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque on just 9psi of boost on 93 octane fuel.

Suspension Mods

Next up, a few suspension upgrades were in-store to help put that extra power to the ground. Those mods include a set of KW Clubsport coilovers and custom titanium bracing for the chassis, along with a set of OG TE37 wheels wrapped with Toyo Proxes R888R rubber. To help slow it down in the corners, Enriquez also went with Stoptech calipers and rotors, along with Hawk brake pads.

Unique Look

The exterior of the NSX has received a complete overhaul with tons of added aero from Downforce, including the front lip, front fenders, hood, side skirts, rear fenders, and rear bumper. There's also a custom diffuser out back, along with a gigantic Voltex Type 4/5 GT wing. The unique look is capped off with a gloss blue vinyl wrap that really makes the car stand out.

Life Changing

A lot has changed for Enriquez since he purchased his dream ride, including the addition of a family. In fact, he says that he met his wife because of the car, so you could certainly say that it's been a good luck charm for him. As far as the NSX itself, he has plans to beef up the cooling system and just keep driving it, both on the track and the street. Because even after a few years, this amazing machine clearly hasn't lost its appeal.
