Stunning Find

Prices for cars that used to be affordable, like this amazing 2001 Honda Prelude up for grabs at Bring a Trailer, are hitting insane new levels on a regular basis. But for those of us that grew up driving them or wishing we could drive them, it makes perfect sense. Pristine, simple, low-mile, manual transmission-equipped beauties like this one are simply not the kind of thing that one can rock up and buy in showrooms today, after all.

Used Sparingly

This beauty of a Predule was purchased new at Dean Honda in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and remained with its original owner until just last year. No word on how it only managed to rack up only 6k miles over the last roughly 20 years, but it would seem that the original owner treated it more as a weekend fair weather driver than anything else.

Couple Flaws

As such, the Premium White Pearl paint is in excellent shape with just a couple of notes - the front bumper was repainted to fix some scrapes, and there are a few rock chips here and there. The tires were also replaced a couple of years ago, but the exterior of this Prelude is in otherwise fantastic and very original condition.

Time Capsule

Stepping into the cabin is like entering a time machine, as the black cloth looks brand new. This is a simply-optioned car, with manual adjustments for the seats, but there are a few typical amenities including air conditioning, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, and cruise control.

Rare Opportunity

The odometer actually shows just 5,705 miles, which is astoundingly low for any 20-year-old vehicle, let alone a Honda of any kind. These cars were obviously built to rack up miles by the hundreds of thousands, but this one presents a very rare opportunity for buyers in today's market.

Lots of Life Left

The Prelude's 2.2-liter four-cylinder certainly has its whole life ahead of it, and would probably dyno close to its original rated power figures of 200 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque. That power flows to the front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission, which is the only way to go with one of these cars.

Brisk Bidding

As one might imagine, bidding for this beautiful example of a Prelude is up to $17k as of this writing, with five days to go. We wouldn't be surprised to see the car crest the $30k mark with ease, but it'll certainly be interesting to see how much it ultimately hammers for.
