A Look at the 2020 Honda Civic Si

For 2020, Honda adds several exteriors and interior upgrades to the Civic Si. Buyers get a compact sport car with a six-speed manual transmission and enough power for highway cruising and everyday commute. It's also averagely priced, making it one of the most affordable cars we have on the market in its range.

Engaging and Well-balanced

The 2020 Honda Civic Si is an excellent sport compact car that competes directly with the German Volkswagen GTI. For 2020, buyers get several revisions both to the car's exterior and interior and a few performance upgrades. All of these are offered at a great budget.

Transmission

All the power that emanates from the thrilling engine is enhanced by a rather exceptional six-speed manual transmission. It boasts of a gearbox that is precise and quick in its response. This is enhanced by a light clutch that acts as a great option for stop-and-go movements and fatigue commuting. Most of the transmission features were revised last year on the Civic Si. The car now boasts of responsive throttles and improved acceleration.

Traction

The Si comes with a set of 18-inch wheels accompanied by all-season tires. A limited-slip differential helps to maintain traction between patches found at the front wheels. Buyers can also opt for summer tires which add an extra $673 to the purchase price. The suspension consists of a rear multilink combination and front MacPherson struts with adaptive dampers added at all four corners. The dampers can be made firmer by simply pressing the Sport button.

Performance

The Si's ride can be described as stiff. The steering has adequate weight to it that makes the sport compact a practical model in your hands. The chassis and powertrain turn precisely and send all the feedback that the driver needs back to the cabin with every turn. The car is generally light on its toes and makes it up for a lack of torque.

Driver-Assistance Features

As standard, the Si comes with automatic emergency braking and forward-collision warning. Adaptive cruise control is included to help with highway cruises. The system is able to maintain a particular distance from the car ahead while lane-keeping assist keeps the vehicle from crossing the lane markers or drifting off. Automatic LED headlights are also available. They activate automatically on dark roads and dim to avoid dazzling oncoming traffic.

Interior

The inside features a new 7-inch screen that is a representation of the automaker's Display Audio infotainment system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available. Honda also replaced the old capacitive slider with a new volume knob, new shortcuts and physical buttons for the infotainment system. There are new steering wheel controls and a visual refresh of the entire cabin. Unfortunately, there is no navigation from Honda within the system.

Price

The Honda Civic Si starts at $25,400 which is a steal for the performance. The only gearbox available has a manual transmission. Buyers do not get a dual-clutch or automatic option. Overall, the car is available either as a sedan or coupe. There aren't many add-ons available apart from the summer tires. Buyers may also be charged a destination fee of about $995.
