The 7 States That Prefer a Honda

Here are the States That Love Honda

In July of 2016, the top 4 (out of 50) vehicles most searched on Edmunds.com were Honda's CR-V, Accord, Civic and Pilot (in that order). It is safe to say that Honda is the most popular brand among many, but which states actually prefer which model? Continue reading to find out the states that prefer a Honda (either new or used), as well as the states where they are most stolen. 

(Note: The information is from the last three years, as there is very little info for 2016. Also note that there are more states where Honda is either the most popular to buy or get stolen, but this list will only focus on the states that overlap.)  

1. California

In the latest documented year (2015), the Honda Civic is leading for the top-selling of new vehicles in California, with the Accord a close second. While the Civic is both the go-to car for buying new and used (with 2.5% of total sales), it seems that those pesky thieves prefer the Accord. 

2. Connecticut

Connecticut is a bit different. In a study done in 2014, it seems the most popular car to buy new is the Subaru Forester. But, with 2.6% of sales, it is the Accord that takes the lead in used cars. Not only that, the Accord is also the most stolen. It looks like these people know something the rest of the state doesn't. 

3. Hawaii

Like Connecticut, Hawaii also doesn't showcase a Honda as the most popular car to buy new. The Toyota Tacoma takes first place to buy new. But, a few residents of the state know the value of a good Honda, as the Civic takes first place in most bought used as well as stolen. 

4. Massachusetts

Massachusetts prefers the CR-V over the Accord and Civic. Although, it seems that those searching to buy used or not looking to buy are going for the Honda Accord, as this the model of choice to buy used and to steal. At least the whole state is on the Honda bandwagon. 

5. New Jersey

Honda is getting little love by those buying used, but not from those buying new or on the prowl for the five-finger discount (or 10, as someone will probably need both hands). The Honda Accord is both the most popular to buy new and the most stolen in New Jersey. 

6. New York

New York is showing so much love for all of Honda. Its top model to buy new is the CR-V, its top to buy used is the Accord, and most stolen is both the Accord and Civic. Out of the 10 cars reported stolen in New York (a 2015 study), the Accord takes 1st place (724 stolen), Civic in second (707) and CR-V falls in 8th (283). 

7. Virginia

Virginia enjoys both the Accord and the Civic. The Accord is the top sold new as well as the most stolen, but the Civic is the model most bought used. I guess thieves in Virginia would prefer a new Accord than a used Civic.
