S2000 Packs LS2 Power and Loads of Mods

LS swaps have become popular for a variety of valid reasons, and GM's legendary powerplant certainly gives this Honda a bit more gusto.

Power Potential

For S2000 fans, much of the appeal of the car itself is what powers it - a high revving four-cylinder heart. But that hasn't stopped a handful of folks from removing that beloved mill and replacing it with something packing a bit more power potential. And when it comes to that quality, it's hard to beat the LS resting under the hood of this AP1 we recently spotted over at Bring a Trailer.

Outsourcing

A previous owner of this 2002 model Honda removed the stock drivetrain and replaced it with a 6.0-liter LS2 V8 paired with a T56 six-speed manual transmission. The powerplant came from a 2006 Pontiac GTO and has since been fitted with a host of performance parts that undoubtedly make this car a blast to drive.

Solid Build

Those mods include a Brian Tooley Racing Stage 4 camshaft, FAST intake manifold and fuel rails, a titanium intake elbow, Flyin’ Miata headers, a TIG-welded, 3″ dual exhaust with a double X-pipe, and a Slowhawk dyno tune. The seller didn't list the car's output in the ad, but we're betting it's pretty solid given the proven combo.

Exterior Upgrades

Of course, the drivetrain isn't the only thing that's been reworded on this particular car. It's also been repainted black with metallic red clearcoat. A set of "LS2000" badges replace the originals and pay homage to what now lies under the hood. Matching red 18" TSW wheels provide some contrast, and are wrapped in sticky Toyo R888 tires at all four corners.

Losing Functionality

The red theme continues inside, where you'll find a set of Red Bride Low Max seats in place of the originals. Everything else is original, though the factory air conditioning and heat are no longer operational following the engine swap. The chassis itself has just a tad over 97k miles on it, and that's what's showing on the odometer as well.

Bidding War

Sitting on a set of H&R lowering springs, this hot-rodded S2000 certainly has a great stance. Overall build quality appears to be solid, and bidding went a little high as a result. The car eventually hammered for just over $24k following some intense bidding, which was a bit of a surprise.

Smiles Per Mile

But then again, we can only imagine how fun this V8-powered Honda roadster is to drive. With copious amounts of torque available under your right foot and little weight to move with it, this car promises to provide plenty of smiles per mile for its new owner. Even if it stands to make purists cringe just a little.
