Cheers to 60 Years

SEMA always brings out the very best of what the automotive industry has to offer, but 2019 is a particularly special year for Honda. It marks 60 years of Honda in America, so the automaker wanted to pay tribute to that long relationship with some truly special rigs. And we think it's safe to say that they've one a very nice job with this group of awesome modified SUVs and trucks.

Outdoorsy Types

First up, we have this 2020 CR-V built by JSport Performance. Dubbed "Dream," this particular rig has been outfitted for Overlanding. This brand new CR-V has been treated to a 1.5-inch lift kit, side steps, a new front bumper, and a rear tire gate. JSport provided the Plateau modular roof rack, which holds a Roofnest Falcon clamshell-style rooftop tent.

Adventure Machine

Rounding out the build is a set of 17-inch KMC off-road wheels wrapped in aggressive Nitto Ridge Grappler all-terrain tires. Overall, Honda calls the "Dream" CR-V a rig for "the overlander type – someone who wants to venture past the trailhead and explore the outdoors with a vehicle equipped with the gear to support self-reliant adventure travel."

Useful Storage

And that should be pretty easy to do for days at a time, thanks to a series of innovative interior enhancements. This CR-V's cargo area has been fitted with an organization cabinet and a slide-out refrigerator. So nabbing a snack or some supplies is as easy as opening up the back and rolling it out.

Versatile Vehicle

Joining the "Dream" is another CR-V that Honda calls the "Do." This hybrid model was also created by JSport, but with the weekend warrior in mind - someone who just needs a vehicle that can take them from one trailhead to the next, while also maintaining the CR-V's inherent everyday practicality.

Grocery Getter

Modifications to the Do include a 1.5-inch lift kit, side steps, and a roof basket from Jsport, 17-inch KMC off-road wheels wrapped in Nitto Terra Grappler all-terrain tires, and a Cannondale mountain bike mounted to the roof basket. It's certainly a little less aggressive than the Dream, but the Do also retains its original cargo space for grocery runs.

Concept Ridgeline

Next up is the Ridgeline HFP Concept, which was built by none other than Honda Factory Performance. HFP is using this pickup as a test bed for a number of potential future parts offerings, as well as current products, including concept 18-inch bronze-finish HFP alloy wheels, as well as a pair of custom Fuji mountain bikes and Thule bed bike fork mounts, an Xsporster bed rack, and a Kukenam 3 tent in Siberian Camo.

Going Rallying

For those who like a little more excitement in their Hondas, the Rally Passport was built by Honda R&D associates in Ohio as a private, after-hours project to showcase the performance potential and help elevate the off-road capability of the all-new 2019 Passport. The Honda was built to compete in stage rally competition in the Limited 4WD class of the American Rally Association, and it already scored 2nd in class and 12th overall out of 75 total competitors in the Southern Ohio Forest Rally.

Weekend Fun Toys

Overall, this group of diverse and cool Honda projects do a very nice job of celebrating a long and fruitful relationship. And they show us that for the adventurous types, heading off-road for a weekend of fun is easy to do with the right rig and the right combination of parts.
