Total Makeover

While many manufacturers have already committed to an all-electric lineup in the coming years, Honda hasn't yet gone all-in in that regard, as it plans to wait until 2040 to electrify its lineup. The same can be said of the truck market, where the Japanese automaker has long offered its popular Ridgeline, which is a more car-like pickup than a rugged off-roader. Thus, artist Rene Garcia recently decided to give that model a total makeover, and the results are pretty incredible, to say the least.

Big and Bold

The result is a truck that borrows heavily from the concept of the GMC Hummer EV - a big, burly off-roader with loads of electric power tucked underneath. It rolls on a skateboard chassis and wears aggressive styling that's far more in-your-face than the friendly Ridgeline offers today, that's for sure.

Futuristic Cockpit

The same can be said for the Ridgeline EV's futuristic cockpit, with its massive screen that spans the entire width of the dashboard and yoke steering wheel, along with more detailing than you can see in one pass of the eye. It's very Hummer-like, in fact, which isn't a bad thing in this case.

Impeccable Detailing

The detail here is impeccable and a far cry from the boring, plain old interiors we see on most cars these days. There's also a fantastic view of the outside courtesy of glass in the lower portion of all four doors, which is a nice but probably unrealistic touch.

Aggressive Exterior

The exterior of this Ridgeline EV concept is arguably even more aggressive and highly detailed. It looks angry sitting still, with a forward rake and sharply creased body lines, attractive wheels and off-road rubber, and a front end that features a built-in winch and tow hooks for recovery purposes.

Hot Market

The whole project is so different and forward-thinking that we can't even imagine Honda building it at this point, though we wish it would. The EV truck market is quickly shaping up to be a competitive one, but it's also a segment that the automaker seems content on ignoring for now.

No Restrictions

Thankfully, however, there are artists like Garcia who don't have to worry about appeasing management and penny pinchers. They can simply let their imaginations run wild, then share the results with the masses. But with any luck, perhaps Honda will come across this amazing design and at least consider making it a reality.
