Default Skunk2 Owes Me A F$%#in New Motor

This happened on the day there was the big G2IC meet in Anaheim. I was washing and cleaning my car up to go to the meet for the first time and 5 mintues after I left my house I hear a strange noise from my motor and 2 seconds later my motor just shuts off. At the time this happened I was cruising at city limits (30-40mph, < 4K rpm). I was like wtf happened to my car!!! So I pulled over to check if my timiming belt had slipped a tooth but everything was dead on TDC. After looking all over the engine bay for half an hour, I figured something had happened internally.
So I had to call up a couple of the homies to push my car ****** 1.5 miles back to my house!!(**** that was a far push!!) Anyhow removed the head the next day and found the head of one of the valves on cylinder 1 broke off and fell into the cylinder. The pics below will show you how much damage was caused by that faulty valve. What pisses me off is that I had this motor fully built not too long ago and barely have that much milage on it, then something like this happens. WTF!!!
It has been more than 3 weeks and I have been contacting Skunk2 ever since but what pisses me off is Skunk's customer service. It seems as though they have been trying to avoid me because I was told I "will" get a call back and they lag like hell up until now they haven't given me a call back yet. Man my motor got fucked up cause of their piece of **** valve and they said they'll call me back ****** when? 2 years later??!!?! All the pictures prove that there were no piston to valve clearance issues and this happened because of a defected valve. Everytime I call them and say what's going on with my situation I keep getting messages like "They are busy prepairing for a race this weekend" or "Charles is busy building a motor that's why he hasn't been able to call anyone back." **** that man! Keep in mind that Charles helped me with this situation.
Honestly their customer service is like **** from my experience so far. How hard is it to spend a lil time with the boss to talk about my situation and give me a call back. I just want my motor to get repaired back to the way it was. If this happened because I had clearance issues I wouldn't be bitching about it.

Cliff Notes: Cylinder 1 head of valve broke and fucked up my $10k fully built motor. There were no piston to valve clearance issues. I came to Skunk2 and called them ever since. Skunk2 ignores my situation and never gave me a call back like they said they would. I'm pissed off more than a motherfuck about it now because their customer service is **** and I am still waiting to for their call. Enough steam here are the pics..

Damn valve stem shanked my Spoon Balanced JDM ITR pistons!

I believe I would go up there with the pictures or the motor itself and take a reciept or a bank transaction of some sort to cover your *** and ask to speak to the head guy??? I think thats what I would do. Demand a new head/motor.

Pictures were sent by email at first and I was told I was supposed to get an email back asap but I waited a week and saw no reply so I came up there in person and handed the pictures straight to Charles. He told me he was supposed to talk to the boss "Dave" and see what they will do for my situation and I still have no response yet. Funny thing is that whenever I come up there and ask Charles what's up with my situation the boss is never there.

Maybe it was because you were driving at high rpm when your valve broke which would tear up the whole motor for sure and my valve broke at a low rpm (daily driving).

The same thing happened to my type r motor when I used REV valves!
2 weeks after installation,im cruisind to lunch and the engine dies.Tried to restart it but it was locked up.
Later I took the head off and a single REV valve had failed and made a new home into my piston. Everything was still in time perfectly and the motor had been clayed for clearances. My guess is the JUN springs were too stiff for the crappy inferior valves.
Sorry to hear about your loss.
I only use OEM valves now.

sorry to hear that bad news man... i cant even imagine the feeling of a newly built motor being fucked because of shitty quality. hopefully enough people read this post and realize that some companies arent worth buying from when it comes to crutial things, ie. valves.

It doesn't look like a competant machine shop couldn't fix it, but customer service is always a bitch when it's time to fix ****. It sucks.

skunk2 sucks donkey cameltoe. i had bought a skunk2 st1 cam for my d16 when it first came out. turns out it wouldnt fit in the head i had on my car. i called skunk2 like 5 times. i talked to the guys in the tech dept. and some customer service peeps. they told me to grind the head down. so i did. 3 hours later, cam still didnt fit. i called back for the 4th or 5th time and was like ok, i followed what you said. they were like grind more. said that i wanted my money back, because when it all came down to it, they sold a product made to work in my car, and it didnt work, and that wasnt acceptable. they told me that the guy id have to speak to was out to lunch. i gave them my info and they said he would call back. he never did. so it turns out i sold the cam on here(it works fine in some other heads) for less then half the price i paid for it. all cause skunk2 customer service is unbelievably horrible. i dont think ill ever buy a skunk2 product again. good luck to you getting money for your motor. i hope u do, **** i hope u get thousands upon thousands, for all the other people who im sure have had bad experiences with skunk2

what made that motor so expensive? ls/v with spoon itr pistons shouldnt cost 10k unless it was some nasty style square bore intake ported itr head? almost looks like stock sleeves too but cant really tell for sure.

There was alot done to the motor. Parts that I put into it, and machine work for the blue print and balanced motor. List of parts consisted of Toda Spec B cams, Spoon Cam Sprockets, Jun Valvesprings, Portflow Titanium Retainers, Ported TB, etc...Most of the cost was all the machine work process. Also Port Flow ported my head so I don't think I would call it some nasty style square bore for my P72 head.

I just checked with the BBB(Better Business Bureau) to see if Skunk2 is registered with them and they are. So I just filed a complaint through the BBB. I figured that's an effective way of handling this situation.

Dude I would call the TV channels and the better business bureau. http://www.bbb.org search for your state and contact them. Go to Skunk2 and tell them that if they don't do something soon you will go to the media and report them to the bbb and call their cust serv too and tell them the same thing. I would call the company HQ and take it up with someone there and if they try to give you crap tell them you already called the major news channels and the bbb.

I hope everything works out

God bless bro.

I'm tired of dealing with Skunk2 cause I always get rerouted to a waiting for response situation with them so I just filed a complaint with the BBB and let them handle the problem for me. Thanks for the help bro.

No offense.. but the pistons themselves, and the quench areas on the head look like **** for a recently built motor. You sure the guys that did the machine work knew what they were doing?

Port Flow doesn't know what they're doing? Nah bro, it's just that my motor was running a lil rich therefore the blackness of the combustion chamber.
