will a gsr crank fit a b20b block? can i just swap out the stock block for the b20 or is there more stuff to it?

no... gsr cranks dont mix with ls or b20 cranks
and why would u want to? you will loose compression that already sux.
and swap out what stock block?

i have a ls/vtec and when i started looking into the swap i looked at the B20/vtec and it made less hp. also what year your car is will make a big diff. obd1 or obd2,it was harder to find the ecu cheap for the obd2

i mean like taking out the stock gsr block and slapping in a stock b20 block. will that work. is it just that easy or is there more u have to do like change the hoses, and the mounting brackets.. .etc.

yes, its pretty much a direct swap.

2 things to take into consideration...

1. rod stroke ratio sux on b20's so you cant rev like you want... (wouldnt take it past 7200 on the stock block)
2. head bolts come loose on frank motors all the time unless you get new head bolts from honda OR arp (why not just get arp if ur gonna do it right?)

WHY TAKE OUT UR GSR BLOCK THO!??! why not save up for a turbo kit, gsr's are purrrrrfect for turbo

Yes, GSR internals will work in a LS/B20 block. I have a LS block (bored out to 87mm) with a GSR crank and GSR rods (using Prelude pistons). The block size is the same between the LS/B20 and B18C blocks, the stroke and rod lengths are different so if you want to use a GSR crank, you need to use GSR rods also or it won't work. Samething if you want to use a LS crank in a GSR block, you need to use the LS rods. Works fine.

FYI, if you modify a GSR girdle to fit onto the main caps of the LS/B20 block, or just get an aftermarket one like a Z10 girdle, run some oil squirters on the LS/B20 block, then you basically have the same setup as a GSR block but with 84mm sleeves if using the B20 block. It's been done years and proven years ago.

Going back to the original post question...... LS/VTEC because it's cheaper to build and cheaper to upgrade (drop in stock Honda 81mm pistons for higher compression rather than paying more for aftermarket 84mm pistons). Unless you're really set on going 2.0L, get the B20 and build that up for sleeve your LS block. But have you driven a "stock" B20/VTEC (stock B20 pistons, stock B16 head) compared to a LS/VTEC using PR3 pistons and a stock B16 head? The high compression motor is going to be, and feel, a lot faster than the stock B20-VTEC setup, which IMO feels similar to a stock GSR setup. Just somethings to consider.

so a B20b/vtec will feel like a stock gsr and a LS/vtec will feel faster than a stock gsr. if so, why do people do b20bvtec if they can just get the whole complete gsr motor? i thought a 2.0L will give me more torque and keeping my gsr crank will keep my redline up in the 8000. i guess i'll need high compression pistons? is there any way to keep stock compression but with 2.0L block?

i thought about upgrading the gsr head and leave the block alone, but doesnt that cost more (cams, cam gear, valve train, reprogrammed ECU or vafc, a new valve cover and timing belt cover).

basically... low end b20 vtec is beter...
but you are looking for more top end high reving stuff... go with the gsr

okay here's the deal:
b18c1/5 = 81mm pistons and 87.20mm stroke
b18a/b = 81mm pistons and 89.00mm stroke
b20b/z = 84mm pistons and 89.00mm stroke

if you get a b20b/z block and put your GSR crank in the b20, it will do this:
84mm pistons and 87.20mm stroke with crappy compression. Why spend that money when you can sleeve your GSR block, have it bored to 84mm and get pistons. You'd have a 1.933 liter and it would just as reliable (if not more reliable) than your stock b18c1. just my $0.02

don't know my compression , don't know my whp , hp, but i know my b20b block with my 93 gsr head , i smoke gsrs and b16a2

i think i have a stock b20b and stock gsr head plus few bolts on apexi catback, header, intake, pulleys

smoke stock mustangs gt 2003

i don't know why but i can rev up to 9000 rpm with this set up, i thinks is because of my ls ecu was chipped with a chip but i feel my top end power ends at 8000 rpm, but i haven't done a dino yet.

are you nuts? reving to 9k on stock b20 block? rev limit on crv's is 6800. dont play roulette with your motor man... you'll be sorry.

props on taking the '03 GT... i wanna be a v8 killer too

You guys should check out the dyno graphs at importreivew.com for at least an idea of what kinda power both setups make.. I was thinking of boring my b18a block to 84.5 but honestly im not impresed with the crv/tec dyno graphs, and after looking at the thread from here about the buddyclub cams, I decided to just go .25 over and not worry about any re-sleeving nonsense.

Its already been said, but I'll say it again anyway.... ignore that^^^
you can put a gsr crank in a B20 if you use GSR length rods.
also, you can pick up B20Z pistons (9.6:1 cr) for pretty cheap, as they're factory pistons and then by decking your head and block a few thousandths (which you should do anyway to properly build, you can increase your cr to close to the 10:1 that a gsr runs... combine that with a gsr or even a b16 head, (both of which up your compression) and you'll be at a higher compression than you think. Combine that with the extra torque (particularly in the low-end) and you bet you can hafve a better (or at least a potnetially faster) motor than a gsr... and with the going prices for GSR mototrs being through the roof lately, I bet you can actually pick up a B20 block and a gsr head for less than you can pick up a completre gsr longblock... And if you substitue in a B16 head over a GSR head, you can probably undercut a full GSr longblock by agt least a couple hundred.
Anyone agree with me?
-Mike

I guess it depends on your prefrence... I Love B20's.. Im on my 2'nd one now (sold my first one) I dont like LS Vtec's just for the fact i raced one. Same exact mods. same clutch an trans. By 2'nd gear i had like 3 car lengths an was pulling. only diff my vtec was a 4500 his was at 5500

I also beat 2 Mustang GT's 04 an a 06. first win was the 06 in my 94 ex coupe. 3 people an 18's on the rear. 2'nd win was against my mom in her 04 GT (5 speed) when it was in my Teal EG Hatch. It was a lovely moment lol
