Default have you ever broken and AN-R header??

ok...as much as I hate to admit it...an-r's are now on my bad side. my compact, merge collector made huge power over my other header...but, that's not the point of this thread...
so who all has had one break on them???

my header broke on the RLZ car at Dinwiddie, and now the race header has broken as well. member Casey broke his regualr design on his street car as well.

has anyone else had this problem???

it only seems to happen when the header is driven open

i shouldn't have to use a flex, i have an oe style doughnut gaskets, which does just as good......but that has nothign to do with them breaking. they seem to break when they are run open header.

the race header borke in 3 places, Casey's broke in half...completely, and my header broke at the collector and had to be welded back together with a coat hanger at hte strip

no brace. I was told that I was supposed to know i needed to brace it, even though their site mentions nothing. A header should be able to support its own weight. They fixed my problem, well see how long it lasts on my friends car.

the metal is so thin...that i guess with the constant vibration acting on it, along wiht the heat and weight...they just snap

I have a AN-R compact with the merge collector it has cracked about thirty two times it is the biggest waste of 730 dollars ever . it made go power but it wont stop cracking . I have tried to brace it , coat it , and anything else i could think of to fix it. ill try to post some pic's late tonight.

i did run my compact an-r header this past friday, and i noticed that since i was running open header that it was flexing more than i would like it to. i picked up this flexing, when i heard the header hitting my jimfab bar. when i parked the car, i opened the hood to see how much room i had in the front of it by the bar. when i looked, i had about 1/2 an inch of room. i might get under the car to check for craks, before i use the car again. has anyone welded an oem like bracket, to keep the header from flexing?

A good customer of mine just bought one for his hobby race car. The actual welds and workmanship really don't seem that great .

I guess I'm sure he will call me when it fails

damnit man, i had my heart set on gettin an AN-R header

what is the cause for this cracking??

just running open header?? i was just going to run the AN-R compact with a 2.5 carsound cat to my exhaust .. . would it be fine then??

or is it cuz everyone is running open header that it is cracking?? is there any prevention to this??

I'm running an AN-R on my daily full exhausted h22 eh3. No problems so far with cracking. Been on for about 4 months. And it's "ss". However when I got mine the flange was bent, no biggie(it was bowed out from the head at center). But the damn thing didnt fit, it hit the oil pan, it was just too tight. So we had to cut the header a few inches below the collector and weld in about a 1inch spacer to get it to clear. THEN the damn thing was at about a 30 degree angle heading into the floor which made it very tough to fab up some pieces to get it straight so that I could hook up my freaking exhaust..........no power gain was noticed but I'm not a butt dyno fan..........................John

Damn, and I've heard such great things about AN-R.

Those welds aren't very pretty, but it looks like the tubing failed too. Do they use tubing that is too thin?

The guy who makes Ericks Racing/AN-R/Bisimoto/Prospeed headers is a guy by the name of Randy XXXXXX.... Anyone know his last name?

Or even better, know his contact info?

Getting ahold of Randy may help get some of these headers taken care of... AN-R is a middle man type of business, it doesnt look like they want to do anything to resolve these instances... So, IMO the bestway to go about it is to cut out the middle man
