Default GM synchromesh questions...ergent!

I am have done some searching and i havent really found out what i wanted to know. My tranny is beginning to grind when going from 2nd to 3rd at high rpm's. I know this can be a number of things such as the blocker rings, synchronizer, etc. I have already torn down and rebuilt a tranny that i had just laying around just so that i can understand them. Anyway, would GM synchromesh stop the grinding? Does anyone know exactly what the stuff is suppose to do or how it works? I am a half a quart low i believe and i think that is what is causing the grinding to start. So i am going to flush out the tranny and put in some synchromesh. Do i fill the whole thing with the stuff or only part of it?

fill it up to the hole where you put the fluid in and make sure you
do it on a level surface.
