EGT ON FULL RACE MANIFOLD
Does anyone here have thier full race manifold drilled and tap for the egt? how far did you put the sensor on and what runner. I'm hesitate to drill and tap my mani, it's too purty to drill a hole into. . But I'm willing to do so in the name of reliability. Thanks

You can but #3 usually runs a tad hotter than the rest so it is a good idea to keep an eye on this cylinder.

OK, on the pic above, do you prefer to place the sensor on top of #3? or to the bottom left. Thanks

I've got mine on my #4 cylinder, I did want it on the #3 though. I had a Computech EGT gauge on there temporarily that I borrowed from a Mustang guy, it is a handheld one and does record and playback etc. I just bought the Greddy EGT from Wiredspeedlab and will be installing that this coming week.

Re: EGT ON FULL RACE MANIFOLD (h22civic2)
its ok to tap in dp i guess... autometer recommends it but i had it put into the 3 runner to get the most accurate readings ... i had someone who tested in before put one in the #3 runner and one in the downpipe at the same time and it varied a couple hundred degrees... runner is the best and most accurate in my opinion...

The runner will also react faster, since putting it after the turbo basicially averages it over the 4 cylinders and over time.
On the other hand, keep in mind that runing an EGT before the turbo can kill your turbo if the end of the probe breaks off.

the mounting instructions that came with mine say one inch fron the header to head-flange in any cylinder. But ill keep the cyl #3 info in mind when mounting mine...

Well the pic isn't working but I put mine on the bottom of the #3 on my Lovefab mani. Top or bottom will work equally well. Just find out what best suits your space requirements.

Re: (Mpir3)
to me it seems that if you install it into the downpipe by the time the guage reads the temp to warn you there is a problem your motor is probably overheated and about to go anyway... studies have found that the #3 cyclinder is often the cyclinder which goes first... like someone said in the downpipe your reading all four cyclinders instead of one and the air has to travel through the exhaust housing of the turbo and into the downpipe to have the reading....

Re: (fullracegsr)
hmm, so what is the best way to drill that thick *** SS manifold? I have the 1/8 npt tap and 11/32 drill bit. Do I need to start with small bit as a starter right? Thanks for all opinion.

Re: (boostedb20vtec)
Just make sure you use plenty of "lubrication"(oil) when you drill and tap the manifold. I went straight for it, using the drill and just tapped it.
Have fun :D

Re: (boostedb20vtec)
we can tap the manifolds if you want, just let us know. as for the process, a center punch, center drill, and the required drill bit is a good way to drill a hole.....you might also want to use a drill press

It is long but if you use the right adapter it works perfectly. Mine did atlest.

Placement
You want to have the EGT sensor mounted on the hottest (#3.) Drill the hole half of the width of the primary tube away from the head.
ie: On a 2 inch runner you would want to place it one inch down from the head on the third runner.

Re: Placement (Dublocivic)
I welded my egt bung on the my manifold, the runner are so thick, I don't think I have any tap that will tap it as clean as I want. I had the runner drilled and the EGT bung welded on the underside of the # 3 runner
