Default AEBS Typhoon Intake Manifold question

before you want to ban me...... let me tell you that I did my search and I read every single thread and I`ve got tons of input. But results and post are very different.

I wonder if this manifold would fit my car since some guys said, the a/f gets leaner, there is a whistle, there is no whistle, there is gain, there is no gain, it fits well, it is of poor quality, it is of high quality...wtf ??

So I tell you what I got and what I want to achieve:

Euro ITR 2000, euro tranny, JDM b18c Type R.
Icebox, Idol TB (72mm and even larger than stock on the manifold side), JDM 4-1 header with worked collector (true 2,5``), high flow cat, 63,5mm inner diameter exhaust, Kenji ECU.

With Kenjis ECU the engine runs very rich.... too rich. The back of my car is always black and dirty, what I really hate... So why not leaning out the a/f a little bit ? Does that make sense to spend 200 bucks in a Typhoon IM in my case ?
I don`t expect hp gains, but I expect a leaner a/f without reducing fuel (don`t want to install any VAFC-stuff or so). But I don`t like whisteling noises..

Who can help ?

Did you take a look at the dyno comparison that I did?

yeah, I did.... It`s a good thread but it tells me there`s almost no gain. And your ITR is fully equipped with bolt ons.. just like mine...
Other guys say: 5whp through the powerband as you can read.

So this is your quote:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Austin &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">For B16 that wants an upgrade it's worth the $$, but not worth a whole lot to the normal itr owner.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Okay, wortst case I see NO gain... But can it help to lean out the a/f a little bit ?

Sven,
I too have been panning through the numerous pages of AEBS threads lately. I think that , like many said, its a good bang for the buck. I guess its just up to you whether or not you want to spend the money. I'm likely going to get it for myself as a christmas present. I was also going to get a new TB or get the stock one bored a little. As for the whistling,it cant be that bad and I already have one from the AEM so maybe they will negate eachother Either that or I have a serious warning for deer to watch out.And as far as the rich issue, it cant hurt right? And you most likely will pick up some hp somewhere, So I say WTF, its not that much $, go for it

For what its worth, I bought one just to see for myself. I only have an AEM CAI and I noticed a difference as soon as it was bolted on. I like it and recamend it, especailly if you know you are going to swap the IM. Only $160, that is chump change in this hobbie.

You want to lean your engine out without tuning A/F ? Get an SMSP or Hytech header. They will flow quite a bit more than the JDM header, and you might pick up a couple of HP

I have the AEBS IM on my ITR and at certain throttle positions at certain RPM it whistles. Almost sounds like a turbo spooling.

The way i look at it is it's only $160, if you dont like it sell it, and if you do sell your Itr manifold and make back what you spent. The way i see it it's free power

is not much for an IM IMO , and about your a/f ration , have you thought of running hondata instead . Better capabilities of tuning .

I am located in Germany. No Hondata, no dynos for your tuning needs, no O2 sensors, no people who know a thing about a b18 or Integra at all.. This is not USA or JDM land

Hi ,

I am in Belgium , I will receive the Typhoon AEBS IM next week . I bought it for $ 150+shipping to Europe , this is only like EURO 125 + shipping !!!
I bought it for my ITR to make some more power , I now have the JG Victory X , but I guess thet thet typhoon will out perform the victory X on a N/A engine.
But If you want to lean out your car , buy the APEXI VAFC and get some cam gears on your ITR cams. Then come over to Belgium (near Brussels) I can give you an address of the guy that has german dyno "BOSH" and he fill fine tune your car with the APEXI VAFC . I think its like gambling , if you install an Typhoon IM to lean out your car ?
Why not buy the Typhoon IM and the Apexi VAF , since the US Dollar is cheap at this time .
Install it and get it tuned in Belgium and you will not be dissapointed.

Grüssen

Douglas

Yep,

thanks Douglas.... I don`t want that VAFC stuff anymore, I feel through with that.
It`s so easy to spend a few bucks, maybe gain a few hp and lean out a bit....
But I hate software tuning... Spent way too much time in such things..

I see the IM as it is: Not a big deal. Well get it on not.

OK, from what your writing I understand that you've had an VAFC before ? But how can you dail it in if you have no DYNO ?

It works good so far , I had it for one year now.

No. I still had gains after installing the Typhoon and stock TB.
