JohnnyRaceCar Intercooler: Pics & opionions wanted
Sizes: Core 30" X 6" X 2" End tanks are 7" tall X 3.25 deep. 2.5" OD piping X 2.5" long "....put down 350 whp"
They look pretty well made... i dont really like the fact that its so thin, but it makes up for it in length. Price is good. $230 plus $20 to ship. so about $250. even fits perfect under the EG's bumper:
looking for some honest opinions, TIA.

pretty clean but its thin like u said. honestly i would spend more money on a larger width cooler so you wont run into probs down the road as to this one not being sufficient for ur setup

i'm not shooting for really low times, or really high HP. I just want to turbo a mildly built SOHC block on about 10-12 psi... i think this one autta do pretty well for my application.. and the looks of it under the bumper are selling me on it

I was going to go with the Tyrus intercooler myself, but it won't be enough for my final goals and I don't want to upgrade later. But for a cheap intercooler for the sub-300whp range, it's an awesome intercooler... and one of the best looking IMO too

I have one and it looks damn nice, but it's not installed yet. They work well on 306 whp b20/vtec turbo crx's that run 12.03 in the 1/4 mile so I am guessing it will work fine on your car. Everybody I have talked to that has one seems to like theirs. He is a good guy to do business with also.
Here's a couple pics of a tyrus/johnnyracecar IC next to a starion IC...

Care to explain?
With a taller IC, the top of the bumper practically blocks the air flow to that part. The Tyrus seems to fit perfectly in the EG's opening, leaving no part that's not exposed to the incoming air. Secondly, since it's longer, the air has MORE time to move through and "COOL" down. And it's not big enough that you'll get a huge pressure drop.
Anyone got pics of it on an EK?

i really like this comparison, but you have to note that they are 2 completely different types of intercoolers. But damn, the tyrus looks like it will work perfect for me.

Keep in mind, we're talking about low boost applications. I never said anything about "improving air flow", since we know bigger is better. My reply was to just to reiterate that the longer core will be more efficient with low boost setups.
But then again, 300whp is nothing to sneeze at either.

But isnt that what its all about? better airflow? the problem is you are moving all the air in basically a long IC, with a taller IC it will cool more air and move it along nicely. Less pressure drop more boost more HP.
