Default Race Carbon Hoods?

Anyone know where I can get a carbon hood without the clear coat? I seen most japanese car tuners, their CF hoods dont have a clear coat. Clear coating is just more for show pruposes.

Its goign on my 92 civic hatch back.

Thanks!

why do you need a carbon hood? i found this one off fiberglass hood that weighs 8lbs. it is very thin, but flexable. lighter than any off the shelf carbon hood by a mile...

EDIT: my hood weighs an actual 8.8lbs. i weighed it myself. please do not im me saying it does not weigh that. i am a licensed new york state weighmaster, and i weigh everything that goes on/comes off my car with certified scales. on a side note, the stock hood weighed 30lbs.

maybe one day i'll get around to painting it...

That's the stupidest thing I've heard in a long time. Do you even know what the function of clear coat is? And who gives a **** what the ***** in Japan do..? Get off the bandwagon and get a life.

That red hatch is freaking sweet.. What engine are you running? H22?

why don't people use fiberglass? Ive always thought about it as it weighs so little and it would be a nice way to lose weight....so why not use it? (not trying to thread-jack, but ahwell)

by using lower resin content the hoods look dull and are basically a weave texture. when made right the hood is much less prone to breaking than a vis or any other high luster hood. it also creates a much much ligher hood since the resin is the actual weight of the hood. ive been tempted to buy some sheeting myself and use a high vacuum with low resin content to make a hood. a buddy of mine who does racing at the honda plant here in ohio says they made a hood that u could bend front to back and wouldnt break not even a crack...so its not a stupid idea. if i go carbon hood its not going to be for looks, itll be for the fact that its light and wont break.

That is DEF a B series motor. Look at where the VTEC letters are. And on a H VC the altanator wires come over the top of the VC.

if you know what it was used for you need to jump of the bandwagon. WHile everyone cares about the fitment of their hoor, or the weave is messed up, i'm here looking for something more performance oriented.

so you!!

well, that may hold true to "real" carbon fiber, but the average carbon fiber hood found on the local neighborhood stunna's civic is nothing but glorified fiberglass. sad, but true.
