no charge pipe for 20 mins??
in about half an hour i have to drive my car to have the exhaust done. it's a 20 min drive and i have no charge pipe (they will making that for me also).
will the turbo over spool without any kind of back pressure? i don't want it spinning at a million rpm.
thanks

if you stay in vacuum id imagine youd be fine, but if you tried giving it boost the wastegate pressure inlet will detect no boost (obviously) and the wastegate wont open, thus making your turbo work hard for nothing

Its one of those things where you are not supposed to recommend it but everyone has had to drive at least 5-10 minutes with disconnected charge pipes because in the first few weeks of a new IC piping setup usually one or two blows off. 99% sure you should be fine if you drive it easy mcbeasy. Dont hold me to it though!

I would think it would overspin even if you stayed in vaccum... there is no boost to read without the piping connected to be charged.
maybe if you could force the wastegate to stay open it would help.

I drove mine like that for a week with no problems.
Sounds kinda like a vacuum. Listen closely to the sound to know how hard to press it.

You should be fine driving it there as long as you stay below 3K rpm... I had to drvie mine like this as well, and everything was fine... You do have a downpipe though right...? I wouldn't drive without a downpipe...

well I kinda have the same situation, except I need to drive about 1.5 hours
i have a gsr charge pipe and it wont fit my ls properly, so i was just gonna put the short ram intake on and drive without a charge pipe.
plus my DP is also for a gsr so its like 2 inches too short, so it doesnt connect to the cat
should i do this? or get it towed? without the charge pipe you can't read vacume?

you can read vaccum without a charge pipe. your boost gauge should be connected to a vaccum line after the the throttle body anyway, right? it'll work. i drove mine to the shop with an open d/p as well. i had to have them weld me an entire 3" exhaust as well as my charge pipe. it was only a 20 min drive through town though. an hour and a half is pushing.. especially if you're gonna be driving on the freeway, which is sounds like you are?
just to let ya'll know: i drove the car, kept it under 3k and it was fine. never spooled more than normal. i figured it would be okay.. but always a good idea to ask first.

As long as you have a downpipe that gets the bulk of the gases away from the turbo and the block, then you should be fine...just try to go on a cold day and dont go too fast...

Re: (integra-modder)
I drove from my home to Miami muffler (15min) with no charge piping as well. Took as many small side roads as I could to avoid traffic so I could crawl at a snails pace without spooling the turbo. It's not easy but it works.
