a new GM SYNCHROMESH thread
Allright, today, after getting a loan to pay the incredible $16 a quart,i went and bought gm synchromesh friction modified(part #123777916), put it in and it made a noticeable difference, now the gears aren't as notchy and rubbery feely.
But the question is; after reading almost all the post about gm synchro. i see that some people get the #123777916 and some other get the part# 12345349(with is the regular one), some people say the friction modified one is good and others say the regular one is the way to go...
NOW lets end all bs,wich one is the better one?
here is some threads to shed the light to those who dont know:

You know, I really dont know... Seems like even the generic sychromesh stuff works well.
I bought some of the penzoil sychromesh and have been using it successfully for about 2 months now. 3rd gear used to require a double clutch to get into gear, now she'll go right in with just a regular shift.
Don't know which is the best but the stuff i used gets a BIG

Well I finished a clutch and flywheel job on my si not to long ago and went ahead and bought some of the friction modified stuff...by the ways if u paid 16 a quart u got riped a new one cause it list for 11 something and I talked to the guy and was able to get 10 percent off so it came out to about 9 something for each quart. Anyways I bought the friction modified cause they said here it was better and I have noticed its a smoother shifting. I used to grind once in a blue moon before the new clutch but I havent yet.

I've been waiting to see what the results are.... I take it either one works fine for now....

Well so far it does work good. I had a tranny misshap this weekend at the dragstrip, but it turned out to be just a shifter cable issue. So far, shifting is smooth and there aren't any problems with the LSD.

I was referring to the difference between Friction Modified and the Regular. I want to purchase this, but I'm waiting to see what people say between the two. If I'm not mistaken, Honda MTF is Friction Modified.

I tried the GM Synchromesh Part #12345349 a month ago.
One month later, it feels like crap. There was no improvement what so ever.
Today, I bought GM Synchromesh Friction Modified Part #12377916 and put it in.
After a drive to the store, man, it's better than the regular one for sure.

Re: a new GM SYNCHROMESH thread (All-Motor H22A)
i am using regular and i have felt no improvement what so ever
also the dealership ripped me a new one i got charged 11.37 a quart for REGULAR
i told the guy that he was an *** for jacking up the price ( i know what retail is and it was not right of the dealership to do that)

My 2 Cents
The Penzoil one at Autozone is no better than the GM Synchromesh at the GMC.
I recommend GM Synchromesh Friction Modified Part #12377916
The regular Synchromesh did nothing for me, but the Friction Modified took away my 5th gear grind.
