will a 97 civic auto tranny work with my 93 civic auto
can someone help me out, my tranny is gone, and a friend of mine is willilng to sell me his 97 civic auto tranny for a low price...thx for all help

it should fit if you use the torque converter that was with the 97. as for the plugs on tranny not sure if they are plug and play

Yes, it will work but you will have to manually shift the tranny using the 1-2-3-D function on ur shifter. And it will start off in 2nd not 1st. It bolts up like 5th gen AT tranny, but the 6th gen Tranny's use their own ECU to shift, the 5th gen dont, so thats why u need to do the shifting. The 6th gen dont have the same shifter layout, they start off in 2-3-D so no matter what u will start in 2nd making for a damn slow takeoff. Not sure if it was the AT 6th gen tranny I used on my AT 5th gen but everytime I tried going into reverse it felt like I had hit something, it was a nasty jolt going into reverse. Kinda like I had no tranny mount.
