Oil cooler in - surprise !
Not a big thing but I want to share this information with you:
Since it`s very hot in Germany (40 C°) I decided to throw in a 19 row oilcooler because I was afraid of my engine.... I have to drive a lot of Autobahn and that means more than 5k or 6k for long distances... It`s not really possible to take it slow on our streets. I saw a lot of cars dying these days...
Before that oilcooler was installed my motor burnt 300ml oil when I drove 800km with a race event or a long distance run between.
Now: Not a single drop (!) after 1800km... There had been a short trip to the coast through very hot weather last week (1300km trip) and I was really surprised what optimizing oil temperature means to an engine...
So if your motor likes burning oil.... think of cooling it. It may help

Thanks for the info...
I have just recently this summer been planning of installing a oil-cooler and a oil-temperature-meter, just to be on the safe side, were did you get your oil-cooler from and how much $$ did it put you back?
Is it complicated to install?

Re: Oil cooler in - surprise ! (genuine)
around 250 Euros, the steelflex hoses excluded... 400 or so..
It`s not difficult but you have to work very carefully...A block under the oilfilter for mounting the steelflex which conntect to the oilcooler behind the bumper.
I can take some pics for you tomorrow

Man i would love to take a trip to germany and ride on the autobahn. How are the lanes set up? Are there lanes where there's basically no speed limit?

You can find some information here:
http://home.att.net/~texhwyman/autobahn.htm
You can be lucky if it looks empty like this:
but unfortunately some Autobahns look more like this:
My personal favourite is the A63 form mainz to kaiserslautern....i managed to drive about 40km there without stepping off the pedal to the far right....
Burned about 10 litres of best fuel for that 10 minutes....
Max. speed as read on the speedo was a little over 250km/h...

19 row... Hummm... that´s too much for a 1.8L
Not even a 2.5L uses that !!!
That was my setup before i sell the ITR. Only 0.6 L more on the oil circuit. It´s enought to run 120ºC max at full load.
And that´s the best oil temp. to have a good engine performance.
If you run with a 19 row oil cooler the oil will never go over 105-110ºC

here's mine:
just beware the tiny rocks at high-speed of cars in front or you might end up with an oil leak and a broken motor.

What size is that one?
I have a 13-row on my Prelude with a grillcraft grill to help protect it.

Re: Oil cooler in - surprise ! (vtec.dc2)
Just to throw another kit into the mix:
Jackson Racing has one for Integras...runs about $300. Which is less than most of the other ones out there, including some of the DIY kits...
Curious if anybody has had any experience with this kit?

Re: Oil cooler in - surprise ! (geometro)
if you guys are interested in oil cooler, i suggest to give bakerprecision a call and they will give you a good deal on setrab oil cooler.
PS, if you guys plan to install a oil cooler, do it right at the first time. dont settle for a cheap oil cooler. setrab is the way to go.
