By youngkow:

Auto to manual swap
Now, I did a complete engine swap, so I do not know what entail the transmission swap itself.

So the manual transmission should come with the slave cylinder attached, but if not, you will need one.
You need a master cylinder and the reservoir, and the clutch line and the clutch pedal assembly and a brake pedal from a manual car.
I used a braided stainless steel, but trust me, your better off getting all of the hard lines from Honda. The stainless works good, but it was a b!tch finding all of the right fittings. Also I thought it was going to be a lot cheaper, but it ended up costing about the same.
There are two switches on the clutches, but I opted not to use them. If you want you can wire them in. I will tell you later on in this little write up.
First, detach the shifter cable from the auto shifter and the tranny and pull it out. Then remove the auto shifter. Yay! <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif" BORDER="0">
Then you need to cut out the cable guide. I just bought aluminum and covered up the gaping hole.

Now drill two holes for the shifter stabilizer holder, called a rubber extension mounting (#16) @ http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...y5=SHIFT+LEVER and I used a piece of aluminum for strength where it bolts up.

Now everything will bolt right up. Attach the shifter to the little rod sticking out of the tranny, attach the shifter stabilizer rod (#13){ from the HAP link above} to the tranny, and bolt up the rubber stabilizer holder.
Now for the wires. Remember, these color codes are for a 99 civic lx.
Yours might be different. A Helms manual will help a lot.
There is a big plug that connects to the shifter assembly.

What you need to do is cut the plug from the auto shifter assembly, and leave about 5 inches of wire.
There are two really fat wires. This is so that you can start the car. You will need to connect these two together. Or what you can do is, run these wires to the switch on the clutch pedal assembly.
Then there is a black wire you will need to connect to a green wire with a white stripe. This puts the car in “park” so you can take the key out. Now you can also hook this up to the other switch on the clutch pedal, but remember everytime you want to take your key out, you have to press the clutch.
Finally, you need to find out what plug you used on the engine wiring harness to hook up to your reverse sensor on the manual transmission.
Find out what colors they are, and find the colors on one of the ECU plugs. You should find it at the ECU plug that has all of the auto tranny sensors. A multimeter helps a lot because there are multiple colors.
Run these two wires to the yellow wire and a green wire with black stripe at the big plug that you cut off from the auto shifter. Now your reverse lights should work.
Hopefully this made it easier on you, and not confused you.
If you need anything else, pm me or email me.

On 92-95 civics there is blue looking box that is under the dash above the fuse box that has "Interlock" on it. If you unlpug this it will also allow to remove your key from the ignition. Also for the 92-95 Civic if you don't want to reweld your tranny mount bracket that is welded on to the frame you can just call Place racing up and they have a new mount for you. It allows you to use a 5 speed trans in an automatic chassis.

before starting the car, fill it up with fresh oil by removing the valve cover and pouring it over the cams.
With the injectors disconnected, crank the car until the oil light goes out.
_______

reverse lights:
There should be a green and yellow wire by the shifter, you need to run the wires from the trans.

yes you can have an automatic. i have automatic b16 right now. but the only problem is that depending what power you are pulling off, your tranny will be killed. my tranny is about to go realsoon, so i have to convert to stick. to save your money..... convert it to a stick, auto is too expensive to fix

We have a few B16A auto transmission that came on some 2nd gen B16 front clips. PM me or email me if you want one cheap (but they're heavy so shipping may cost a lil more than a reg 5-spd tranny).

Just to add, what's cool on the EK chassis is that there's no cutting/welding needed in the engine bay for the passenger side mount bracket... just unbolt it and bolt on a new one. On the EG, the framerail mount has to be either A) moved into the same location as a 5-spd chassis framerail mount, or B) get a custom mount (like the pict below) that'll put your 5-spd tranny into your auto EG chassis w/out any cutting or welding needed.

newman, you changed your avatar picture, i just noticed that! my friend had to reweld his eg tranny mount when he did his swap! it's a good thing that on the ek, there's no welding needed! but is also good to know that for the 92-95 chassis, hcp has that tranny mount that you can use and aboid the welding part all together! good info

Well with the stock motor out and swapping in a B18B and doing the conversion took me about 6-8 hours by myself. Putting the manual pedals in were a PITA! Especially the Gas and Brake pedal!
Here's a shot of my tranny mount:

FYI those with a auto equipped car now, may find it easier to just assemble the parts (which are not that many) and do the conversion themselves. This is also very rewarding to just a couple of us out there.

The best way that I found to make that easier was to just totally remove the steering wheel, just unbolt it from the bracket under the collum switch covers and then undo the lower pinch bolt at the floor and the pedals just slide in like butta.

yeah i just dropped the steering column to get the gas/brake pedal in....pain in the *** tho laying upside down trying to put them in...but for those wanting to do the conversion I highly encourage doing it..very easy to do..i hate it when people say "just buy a stick" yeah, like that is easy.....like people are rushing to buy an auto civic so I can afford a manual... I'm happy with my conversion and it's running strong....would do it again if I had to....hell I should open up a shop and specialize in auto to manual swaps....
