Woo hooo, I have successfully installed a 99 JDM ITR SRS momo wheel on my 94-95 GSR
The JDM ITR SRS momo wheel is a direct plug in for 96-01 cars, but on OBD1 cars, the airbag connector is different.
Let me say that after asking a million questions which no one could answer, I realized that I could swap the connector from my old airbag to the JDM airbag by unlocking the pins, similar to what I had done to install two new pins for my power folding mirrors. The only thing is that the old connecter has three pins, the JDM has two. I realized that the centre pin does nothing as the USDM airbag has only two wires, a red and a white
Dilema number two, the JDM airbag has two red wires, which is positive and which is negative. Gotta admit for that one, the horseshoe was stuck up my a$$. I took my chance, installed the JDM wheel, plugged in the airbag and reconnected the battery. Sitting in the passenger seat, I reached over and turned the ignition..........
Nothing blew
I looked at the guauges, and after six seconds, the SRS light went off indicating that the system was functioning normally.........whew. Only one small problem, my horn does not work, but I will trouble shoot that tomorrow.

Thats a problem I ran into when I swapped a '00 USDM steering wheel into my '95 GSR (OBD1) the SRS connector was different.
What do you mean by "unlocking the pins?" Are you saying you pulled the wires going into the connector out and put it back into the correct connector? Got some visual aids?

That is exactly what I am saying, you can move the pins from one connector to another by unlocking them with a paperclip. For an example, see step 4 at http://students.washington.edu...s.htm
You can do the same thing with the airbag connector pins

Yes, all you need is the right connector. I moved the one off my USDM airbag to my JDM air bag. You can move the one from your OBD1 airbag to your OBD2 bag

I figured out what is wrong with the horn, the horn shares a wire with the cruise control. Since I took out the cruise control switch, there is an open circuit. In cars with no cruise control, there is a jumper that is put on the cruise control harness to close the circuit.
Yes, the wheel does look good, is leather wrapped, still has airbag protection and is nice and small compared to the USDM wheel

My steering wheel's honk doesn't work either, but I found out I dont even have a honk. Would it be a good idea to connect an airhorn to it? I never heard these, but seems loud and more "manly" than the stock "beep beep" road runner sound.

Yes, that is exactly what I did. Thank God for the helms, without it I would be lost. I looked at the circuit diagram for the horn, and realized that it shared a wire with the cruise control.

Re: Woo hooo, I have successfully installed a 99 JDM ITR SRS momo wheel on my 94-95 GSR (JDMTEG2003)
CONGRADULATIONS!!!!! I did this swap 3 months ago on my 97 GSR. I guess we all learn the little differences between model years. As far as the question about the turn signals, there is a small issue but anybody with mechanical ability can fix/modify it to work. I will attempt to explain. The SRS reel has 2 tabs in the back of it that fit in the signal cancel sleeve verticaly, the hub of the SRS wheel has notches in it to fit in the signal canceler sleeve horizontaly. I removed the 2 tabs in the back of the SRS reel so only the steeringwheel cancels the signals. No problems. I can post pics of the mod to the SRS reel if you would like.
Edit: added the pic.

Re: Woo hooo, I have successfully installed a 99 JDM ITR SRS momo wheel on my 94-95 GSR (pdcdragon)
And because the rods that are on the SRS reel fit into the USDM wheel at an angle, and they will have to go into he JDM wheel level (horizontaly) that the UP on the reel will be slightly to the right and will maintain 2 1/2 rotations in both directions so there will be no problem with the reel snapping. (The steering column only has 1 1/2 rotations to each side of center.) That is th reason peeps have problems with the signals not canceling, just remove as in the pic above and the world isa much safer place.

That is such a sweet wheel! Maybe someday I will have it on mine, it will match great when I paint my car Milano Red soon. Not only that, but your car is beyond clean. Awesome!
Those CP-035's are on my list as well!

A couple of questions:
Does removing the tabs in the srs reel cause any problems when re-attaching the USDM wheel?
Is there anyone in the DC Metro area that I can pay to do the install properly and safely?
thanks, Kevin
