there's 2 main bolts on each side of the car, 2 main bolts behind the center console, and 1 main one on the top of the dash by the windshield. to get to the ones on the left side you'll probably have to off take the plastic piece that goes under the steering column (it has the change pocket on it), to get to the ones on the right side you might need to take off the glove box, to get to the ones behind the center console you'll need to take off the arm rest and the cup holders, and to get to the one on the top of the dash you'll need to pop the little cover out with a flat screw driver. you'll need to disconnect a couple plugs from the fuse box that go into the dash, you'll need to disconnect the passenger airbag (make sure the battery's disconnected first), and you'll need to pull the wire that goes from the heater controls to the heater box out of the heater box (look for it on the right side of the center console kinda under the dash). it's probably going to take you at least 3 hours to pull it completely out if this is your first time doing this kind of stuff. any more questions let me know.

could you be a little more specific or show a picture? only the top part of the dash is torn, where you would set a pop or something... do I still need to do all that work? the vents and that plastic stuff are also broken, i have everything i need to replace it... do i need to do all that work still?

i found the bolt in the top middle
i found the 2 on the left
i found the 2 on the right

what else needs to be done? i havn't touched the air bag... what do i need to do to that? thanks man!

i also have to replace the steering column... that comes later though, but keep that in mind too... thanks

to get to passenger side airbag you have to remove the glove box and use a long *** extension to get to it. Make sure the negative battery terminal is disconnected.

Edit: forgot to mention the steering column. You don't have to remove the dash to remove the steering column but since you already are it will be a lot easier, once the dash is out it should be self explanatory.

This is confusing the shiat out of me... I started to take my dash apart, and I dont see how any of this stuff makes sense... except for the air bag thing, and the maint center bolt. Ther 2 bolts on the left, and 2 on teh right were under a little plastic piece thats hidden between the door and dash when the door is closed, and the exposed when the door is open. I dont understand why a person would need to take out the seat rest to take something off thats higher then the steering column.... could somebody please show me a picture?

the top part of the dash got cut and i need to replace it... i have a 97 DX dash thats going in it.... how do I get that part off?

thanks guys

only way I could see it happening to where oyu need to take the arm rest is if its connected and not seperated like it looks... now that I think about it, its prolly connected damn...

still can I get a pic?

you said that the 2 bolts you got on the sides were under the plastic piece between the door and dash. you got the wrong ones man. the 2 on each side that i'm talkign about are either 12 or 14 mm, they bolt into the side of the car, in front of the doors. you can't reach them through those plastic pieces, you have to reach them through underneath the dash. also, there are 2 bolts behind the center console that you need to get. take off the arm rest/handbrake cover, then the plastic piece in front of that, then the cupholders, then finally you'll see 2 big bolts that connect the dash to the floor. you're going to have to also disconnect the steering column from the dash before you can take the dash out, for that there are 2 bolts underneath the ignition and 2 more farther down the steering column, underneath the dash.
