H22 guys.. why are my axles crooked?
HCP mounts
90 Accord halfshaft
91 teg pass axle
89 teg driver axle
I always wondered why my driver side axle sits so close to the fork and is crooked when compared to my pass side. anyone know? I have no binding issues or problems with the axles though.
drivers side(look at the angle)
pass side
I thought maybe the motor was crooked, but it looks straight to me, wadda you guys think?

haha, dude you're lucky!
You should see the angle of the axles with the Hasport kit.
I was like WTF....I mean they go back at a pretty extreme angle It really disturbs me, but eh

how far are you dropped? that's not a bad angle. mine are like that as well w/ no binding issues.
how close is it to the damper fork?

I'm dropped about 1.75-2" I think, this pic doesnt show it but the shaft is like 1/2 inch away from the fork.

Poison, can you post pics of your axles from the same angle fastwanabe did?
I'd like to see how yours look compared to mine. Mine are pretty dang close to the damper fork. No binding at all though.

That looks fine. Mine also had about 1/2 an inch and sometimes did rub on the forks, but never any binding issues..... that was on my EG. On my EK, there's a little bit more clearance underneath... I'll take some picts of it.

Yup, I'll do that once I get my axles in the hatch

Have any of you experienced binding during a full lock U-Turn?

Not at all. have you? I've had 0 issues with axles, other than mine not 'clipped' in on the passenger side.

nah, I've only made 1 Uturn so far...I was scared to try a full lock Uturn just because everything looked so tight down there.
I'll really test it out tomorrow...I was just curious

Re: H22 guys.. why are my axles crooked? (hot_EG)
i have DSS stage II and i had to get a set of 91-93 aacord forks, for clearance. even in a straight line the would rub the forks.
i used to have the problem of the passenger side axle not "cliking" in, place. every 3-5 miles i had to jack the car up and put the axle back in. that sucked!!!!
but my axles are at a bad angle as well. no real fix to it. unless you can make you own motor mounts......

So the Hasport mounts make the axle angles even more extreme? I thought they were better? Hasport was what I was gonna go with.
I was also planning on DSS stage 1 hybrid axles - anyone know if they're gonna require different forks?
Tanx - the swap will be underway soon (month or 2) so I need to know some of these details!

Nope, but then I knew not to do a full-lock, but just because I didn't want to put the sterss on the rack on those tight turns (like when you're not supposed to do a full-lock on the steering wheel with a PS rack) but otherwise no biding when I did a tight turn. Just don't mash the throttle when your H22 Civic is in a full-lock U-turn or you'll snap your axles right in half..... I know one jackass that that

Re: H22 guys.. why are my axles crooked? (Newman)
Oh, btw... after some testing, if you use the Prelude intermediate shaft with the 86-89 Integra driver side axle w/Prelude inner joint (works just fine like the 90-93 Accord mid shaft and 90-93 Integra driver side axle), the Prelude mid shaft is longer, thus there's less of an angle on the axles since the pivot point is more towards the outside. Also, when using Prelude inner joint on the 86-89 Integra axle, it has a deeper cup than the 90-93 Integra axle so it allows for more play and less chances of binding. That's one thing to think about. The other is the more obvious idea.... the further back the H22 motor is, the more straight the axles are going to be, thus less to no binding at all.

With the Hasport kit, the axles go back pretty extreme. I've got Hasport + DSS Level 1 axles..it's close to the damper fork, but it doesn't bind/touch at all.
I'll post up some pics tomorrow of mine.
As far as my axles....the axles went all the way in, and clicked, but I was just worried about it not sealing.
After driving it for a few days, it seems to be sealing just fine...it just doesn't LOOK like it would. lol.

Re: H22 guys.. why are my axles crooked? (poison)
Actually, what do you guys mean by " binding"? My car is now drop 2" , every dip on the freeway my car feels like its grinding on something.I looked at my axle and theres no shaved marks stating that its been hitting the fork. Im using Tanabe sustec spring with 4.5kg/mm -front and 3kg/mm -rear. I dont know if thats good enuff but that grinding **** is annoying. I've heard other say it binds when they "turn" . Im kinda confused??

Re: H22 guys.. why are my axles crooked? (CvexH22)
for my axle combo i used both 91 integra axles on the driver and passenger side and then i used the prelude intermediate with the prelude inner on the driver side 91 integra axle this is what a guy i know at import powerhouse told me and he knows his ****....

Re: H22 guys.. why are my axles crooked? (yayaRl337)
i am using the hcp mounts. for the drivers side, i am using a 88 integra shaft and out joint and a prelude inner, a 90-93 accord intermediate, and 90-93 integra outer, and prelude inner for the passenger side. i am getting vibration when going 20-30 mph, and really bad when i turn right. anyone have any ideas??? sorry to steal this post but i felt it was still on topic and maybe other people are having this problem as well..

Re: H22 guys.. why are my axles crooked? (blackedoutcivic)
I had this problem.... I remove the clip that hold the outer axle joint on the driver side and I used a grinder to shave it a little bit. I raise the rear mount a little bit to and that eliminate all the vibration I had I dont had any problem since 1 year with the clip remove since the axle are not to short I did a couple of 5000 rpm launch at the track and no problem at all.

What year is your engine fastwannabe? I know with my setup the axles were at a fugged up angle till I got the rear tranny bracket from a US 92-95 lude.. But my engine is a 98 and the rear tranny bracket on the Type S is definately different.
