Horrible Gas mileage? After an oil change
Hi,
I recently picked up my 99 AV6 cpe. Its completely stock. Before my oil change i was getting about 27 mpg pure highway driving, and about 22 mixed highway/city. Then i got my oil changed about 2 weeks ago. From then on, my MPG dropped to about 15 mixed highway/city. What the hell did they do to my car, im guessin they used the wrong weight oil? Any other suggestions on ways to improve my MPG. The car has 55k on it. Do the infamous bad tranny's have anything to do with the MPG as well, because ive been getting a lot of rought downshits.

Check to see if any vacuum lines were disconnected in error or possibly broken. Maybe even vacuum lines that were disconnected and reconnected incorrectly.

the wieght of the oil could be your problem. If you are using 5/20 and they put in like a 20/50, it will deffinatly drop you mpg.

I bet they over filled the oil and your crank is having to slosh through the excess oil in the pan.
Have it changed again by a different shop and see if it goes away.
