Default Anyone here with Apexi VAFC?

Since search is down....

I'm just about to buy a used Apexi VAFC (1 year old). Since I use my ITR as a daily driver I was wondering about the reliability on these devices. Anyone here had problems with their VAFC after driving with them for a while? Or have I nothing to fear? Do they function properly in sub zero temperatures?

I've had no problems with mine. They are pretty reliable if you get it tuned by someone who knows what they are doing. Mine gets really hot, so i don't think sub-zero temperature will matter, mabey your R might not like it.

Should be fine...the longevity is mostly dependent on the install, so solder the wires securely.

yepp... I'll get it tuned as soon as I get my exhaust system, even though I doubt I'll get much power out of it. I'm just buying it because I want to lower my vtec point to about 5200rpm so the car gets a bit easier driving on the track.

What kind of problem did you have? I thought that if you don't tune it'll just use the stock ecu fuelmaps, so in theory nothing should go wrong!?

Tuning will help even with stock exhaust.

None.. just make sure you install it correctly.. and use solder.

When I had a GSR I had one and it was untuned for almost a year. It was fine. Now that it is on the R it was tuned and worked fine and I had to Reinitalize it for a damn smog test, and it is currently untuned and still is fine. You just need to set the basic settings. The sensor in needs to be set at 6 and sensor out needs to be at 6 as well. The cyl setting needs to be at 4 and the arrow pointing up to the right. Thoes 2 settings must be set like that or you may get a CEL and your car will not V-tec at all. From there you can get it tuned or not and it will run fine as long as the install is good.
