How to: OEM HID's into 9006 housing.
First off, I put this in the crx forum because I do own a crx and its has 9006.
*I dont know if this will work for all 9006's but it did for the CRX OEM headlights.*
Okay, here goes:
Tools Needed:
-Ratchet
-10 mm socket
-Long extension
-Phillips head screw driver
-OEM HID kit
-Stock headlights
-Dremel w/Sanding disc and Sanding wheel
-SiliconeII glue
Alright, First you will need to take off your bumper so that you can take out the headlights. If you dont know how to do this please use the search function its been talked about many of times.
After the headlights are out take out the stock bulbs. on the Main headlights 9006 one (low beam) you will have to trim the black plastic thing all the way to pull the bulb out. Then gently, but still with some force pull that thing off. If you break it www. hondaautomotiveparts.com has replacements for you.
Now get your dremel and out with disc sanding blade on. (pic below)
Next you will sand off the things that keep the 9006 bulb in place. So that it will look like the pic below.
You could sand those other plactic things off if you really get picky, but there is no need to. Next, use the disc sander to grind down into the housing. Be very carefull not to go to deep because you will not have anywhere to mount the HID bulb onto. The pics below shows this done. See how far it is. Not very deep at all. maybe a couple CM at most.
The point of this is because if you look at the pics below the HID bubble does not line up with the 9006 filament, (the OEM HID bulb is on the left and 9006 in the middle) therefore you need to grind slightly down to make the OEM bubble line up with the 9006 filament. Take your time, its better too take to little off then too much.

Here is another pic to help show the sanding into the housing. A is stock B is the sanded one.
Next use the circular sander. (shown in pics below) to make the stock 9006 hole bigger to fit the OEM HID all the way into. Take your time, its better to take too little off then too much.
After all that has been done, you probably have a lot of plastic dust and stuff all over the place. Plus some is most likely in the headlight as well. I searched HT and found that you can bake your headlights at 200° for 8 min. and another 2 min. at the same temp. if that is not long enough. Then pull the clips off and pull apart the glass from the housing. Be VERY careful! I tired this and when pulling the clips I broke the glass off and just decide not to go any farther. I went to a Friends with high pressure air and just all the junk out instead. I wish I could have gotten them apart that would have made it tens times more simple to clean. But oh well.
Moving on, Get out your glue. SiliconeII (pic below)
I got it for $3 and some change at my local Home Depot.
Apply glue on the on the housing, dont get stingy! (Pic. below)
Then put your HID bulb in the hole, The part with the return wire goes on the bottom. (black/brown thing on the outside of the bulb, refer to upper pic above by MTK) Pic of it done below.
Now add more glue on top of the bulbs base and the housing. to that is stays in place, we don't need HID bulbs flopping all over the place.
The glue will get tacky in about 30 min. but let it dry for a full 24 hours before doing anything else. While you’re waiting for the glue to dry, now is a good time to hook up the ballast.
First cut off the 9006 plug from the harness. Leave a couple inches of wire just incase you ever want to go back to 9006. Now wire up your ballast. red to red and black to black.
After that, find a good place to mount the ballast. Make sure you still have enough slack to connect up your HID's. I used zip ties, kind of ghetto but they hold in place real well. (Sorry, no pics of that)
Okay, once the glue has set for 24 hours, reinstall your headlights and bumper. Hook up the HID ballast to the HID bulb. Close the hood and turn on your lights and test them out. If everything lights up like it should then fine a wall and adjust your headlights. There is a page online on how to do this the right way. But I dont know the link. Use google and you should be able to find it.
Good Luck, have fun and dont get to pissed off. Remember Its better to take to little then to much, Except for on the glue part. If you have question then please post up.
*Disclaimer* This is a DIY mod, that means you did it, I in no way take responsibility for anything you mess up on, brake or errors in my post.
I tied to fix all my spelling errors and such, so bare with me if you have trouble reading something.

Alright, here is the beam pattern:
On the street I need to aim them up a bit so they light the road up better.but so far they look real good. I'm proud of myself

This is what it looked like when i first started. All I did was glue the bulb on the out side of the hosing with absolutly no mods:
As you can see the beam pattern was utter crap, and I'm pretty sure my stock headlights lit the road up better then this did. Plus you can see the black square in the middle where I had no light at all. That really didnt help out anything, but me not being able to see anything.
With the mods done I think it turned out damn good, and I am very pleased. Thanks MTK for your help

I have a 9006 kit on my car, but i also have projector headlights, so the beam is a little different, How much did you pay for you kit?
My friend got my kit at dead cost, i ended up paying $125 for a 4300k mccolough 9006 HID kit
i could not refuse for that price, they are amazingly bright, however, since the projector headlights (came with the car) have a very bad beam pattern, i can see the birds in the tree's at night, Thanks APC

how much on the kit .. any cheeper then aftermarket??Yes it was cheaper then aftermarket, but I cant say by how much. That the main reason I got them is because a friend sold them to me for a price I could not pass up. I would love to see how a 9006 kit compares to mine. I'm sure it would work better with no mods, but as I said, I got mine for pretty cheap so I did what I had to do
good work man
