West Coast Honda Challenge - We're working hard for you!
The WCHC efforts moved from talkin' to walkin' in the last few weeks.
I'm pleased to report that a steering committee was formed and is now working towards an inaugural race for summer '03. This event will most likely be at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, California.
ITACivic – Committee Chair and GP (Grand Poohba)
civicrr – Northern Cal
Bulldog_RS20 – Washington, Oregon, British Columbia
KAMiN – So Cal, Arizona
Also advising:
Tyson
Jhill
Catch 22
Krschultz
The biggest factor for success in this endeavor is participation! Who here is ready to race in the first WCHC event? Who can get their car/license ready for T-Hill? Who will be there…
Start spreading the word. It’s coming.
Greg

No website yet... Working on that.
We are looking at two sanctioning bodies NASA and Team Continental.
You can go to the NASA schools through NASA, I am not sure when their school will be held.
You can also enter in the SCCA school to be held at Thunder Hill Next March 7-9.

California, Nevada and Arizona drivers should check NASA's novice and licensing programs...

One quick suggestion...
Those of you in new regions, please work with Catch 22 and Krschultz to adopt a uniform set of rules. It will probably be a pain in the *** to do, but will also be worth the effort.
It took Spec Miata quie a lot of bickering to make their rules national. But they eventually got the rules set and SCCA has now adopted them as a regional class with national rules (like IT). They also have a huge following, both in terms of participants and in terms of publicity. And Mazda has jumped on board with support.
In this respect, Spec RX-7 failed miserably. There are several sets of rules that vary substantially (from the near-stock DC region to IT-7 in the South East).

Good point Crack. The organizers from other regions, thus far, have been more than willing to come to us first. The requirement that rules stay constant has been surfaced from the outset and (unless someone's not telling me something) that's how we're proceeding.

Does WCHC have specifications for roll cage design like SCCA (i.e. DOM vs ERW)??
