I was hoping if no one brought up that risk it would be easier to sweep under the rug.
Think the first vid online will be one vs a civic si? jk, don't answer that..

Respect this..... Haha J/K
But maybe this will be a "reliable" option for the R18 guys.....I hope for their sake.

Re: (100miles+)
thanks man,
how long do you think a stock clutch will last?
I am legitimately curious to see this vs a si side by side
i wonder which has a better midrange/top end, anyone know how high the 5-speed can go?
But we all know the si will kill us in the curves, and off the line unless there's some fatass tires on these turbo r18's, then who knows.

Re: (bs101)
What I wanna know is why put a turbo on an R18, Its an economy engine, which it gets good mpg and what not. Oh Well...... I guess boost with good mpg's is pretty dope lol.

Im gonna guess the R18 Turbo will have better midrange since it will pick up some good torque from the turbo, but topend is a toss up IMO.

Aha...you see....YOU SEE. Here's where it started. Right here.
No all jokes aside....the turbo release is a good thing for those R18 owners who don't care about their gas mileage. Some people are just into that sort of thing. It's just personal preference that's all. If they want to do it.....so be it.

As long as the Si's can catch up when the R18 uses the new found amount of torque off of the line.

Re: R18 Turbo is out!!.. for reals this time (bs101)
I don't like it - totally against what a Honda should be imo. I don't like how the torque is high at 3k RPMS and then immediately begins dropping. If I were a buyer of this, I'd rather have the kit continuously gaining torque to redline. I guess this is just how turbos tend to be though

Alot of cars have that kind of torque curve. The Si is like that to. When I looked at my dyno graph the curve was flat up until around 5800 RPM...it then shot up very fast until 6KRPM and then slowly began to drop off until redline. It wasn't a steep fall....but it was a steady decline.

Re: (IT GUY)
Not trying to bash the r18 but for all that money spent boosting it, you could have bought an Si, put on some bolt-ons and be faster.
If your purpose is to be just as fast as a stock(or close to) Si then that's cool. Atleast your insurance won't be as rediculous as the Si

That's just an assumption. New turbo kits are very reliable. If you aren't an idiot, and you boost at reasonable psi, the car should be just as reliable as a stock one.
