Dyno Test: T1 Intercooler vs. PWR Intercooler
set up:
84mm GSR Block
Edelbrock intake manifold
full race divided top mount
mazworx turbo cams
STOCK port cylinder head w/ springs and retainers
aem ems
4 inch downpipe and exhaust
Gt4294r 1.15 housing
outside temperature is about 27 degrees hotter outside right now than last time the car was on the dyno. nothing other than the intercooler has changed since the last time.
once we got in the ballpark of 600 horsepower on the old intercooler, no matter what we did with the boost, power didnt go up. the car just felt like there was a restriction. put the T1 intercooler on, and as the boost went up, the power went up as it was suposed to.
VE with the old intercooler went down drastically after about 6000-6500rpm. with the new intercooler VE is back to normal.
boost was being ramped up with RPM on this graph, so it appears to have a slower spool but that is the boost controller. peak boost was about 39psi...something is up with the boost control and its not holding very steady at higher boost. maybe its backpressure from the stock cylinder head? who knows.
unfortunatly this isnt a very "offical" test, no IAT log datta or anything like that. at the end of the day its good proof that the T1 intercooler not only looks amazing, but works very well too.
we will try to post some pictures up soon.

Re: Dyno Test: T1 Intercooler vs. PWR Intercooler (Turbo-charged)
Were the intercooler cores the same size? That would be a fair comparison. We run a PWR intercooler and it seems to be working for us. Our core size is 24x2.875X11 but we do have plans to fit a bigger core when we get the chance.

Can you get the specs from Tony on that thing? Lbs per min, at what pressure loss and what efficiency would be good info to know. It looks like it made a big difference on your car and knowing Tony it is a nice intercooler.
Nice numbers. Was that on there for Indy?

I believe the old intercooler was the Full Race/PWR 20x11x3?
The T1 intercooler is the 24x12x3.5 Garrett core with custom end tanks. I don't have any details about the core, i imagine that information is available from Garrett's site.

Looks like that thing flows around 65lbs a min at 1.00 psi drop. It being a Honey Well core it is very efficient. Not a bad intercooler for that power level at all.

do things right the first time and maybe you wont have to spend more just to fix it later.
Nice numbers with just upgrading the IC.

lol, you guys should see the dyno results from my vacuum blocks! I'd post them, but they'd probably get outlawed in all the sportsman classes!

So does that mean the OBX knockoffs will be on eBay in 3 weeks?
I liked the end tank design on Joe's intercooler a lot.
