Acura CL Interior and Dash in a CD Accord Coupe
Hi:
Has anyone swapped over the interior from an Acura CL (1st generation) into a CD Accord coupe? I like the interior of the Acura CL more, and came across a wrecked parts car that has a full interior. Some things I would like addressed are:
Dash- Will the CL dash bolt-into the Accord fire-wall? Would it interfere with the steering column?
Dash wiring- Will I be able to use the factory wiring and plugs? Which ones will I have to change? The Accord is OBD1, but the CL is OBD2.
Heating and cooling- Are the switches vacuum-operated or electric? THIS IS A MUST! I need to have both heating and cooling, because it will be an all weather car! Will there be any problems with the routing the air vents or the heater core?
Gauge Cluster- Will the CL cluster's speedo/odometer and tach function properly? What about the other warning lights and fuel light?
Door panels- Can I use the door panels from the CL? Would I need to modify them at all?
Headliner and B/C Pillar interior panels- Can I use the CL headliner? What about the CL B/C Pillar (rear interior 1/4 panel-ish area) interior pieces?
Seats- Would the CL front and rear seats bolt into the Accord?
Thanks a lot guys!

Re: Acura CL Interior and Dash in a CD Accord Coupe (tahleel)
mostly everything is interchangable..97-99 CL is like brother / sister to 94-95 & 96-97 accords.
i know things like seats (front) go right in.
cluster for sure no modding required. (direct fitment fully functional unless faulty cluster)
back seats i would say because ur a CD coupe.
door panels i would like to know i am interested in CL panels.
heating & cooling shouldnt hassle you that much
dash ?
headliner?

Isn't the CL heating/cooling automatically adjust while Accord blows out constant air? I looked into those and those I thought aren't just plug and play.
I hope I'm wrong for your case.
Have fun and good luck.

Re: Re: (97LXF20B)
yeah, i drive a cl the ac does sound like its gonna be tricky, cause teh accords have the ***** to adjust a/c while the cl just has up and down arrows and a digital display for the desired climate and where you want the air to blow.
my suggestion: just by a cl. they clean up real good

Re: Re: (TreWatts)
i completely did the wiring and dash out of my ek hatch to that of the 00"si and it was gravy just time consuming, i now have every option in my hatch! look up wiring diagrams from the dealer and connector pinouts as well. all of that stuff is in the EDM (electrical diagnostic manual). i had to disect both dash harness's and add the wiring for the rear wiper and washer assembly! fun stuff, good luck with your project and i hope it goes smooth for you, sound sick!

are the interior parts for the 2.2 cl 2.3 cl and the 3.0 cl all the same or is there slight differences in each?

Picture above me looks pretty good except all the ricer accessories, I really like the neon under the dash.
How much does a CL dash go for?

Re: Acura CL Interior and Dash in a CD Accord Coupe (hurleyint)
I am in the process of swapping in most of an interior from an Acura CL and the climate control piece, it costs about $50 so im thinking I want to get it in there. I am also swapping in the entire center console from the radio controls on back to the armrest, the entire upper and lower dash, the door panels, the entire rear seat assembly, the rear deck and the lower rear panels. I already have the gauge cluster installed, two of the stock Acura bolts screw into the stock Honda locations, the other 2 don't so I'm trying to figure out a way to hold it in place because it still shakes a bit. Double sided tape perhaps?
I am buying a new accord carpet kit (in black), RSX seats and then all of the remaining parts which I cant find in black or a dark color are going to be covered in micro-suede and wrapped black including the pillars, upper rear panels, headliner and any other miscellaneous parts that need to be changed.
I am hoping I can get the climate control module in there, according to a friend of mine, its more of a mechanical thing than anything and there is a motor somewhere which the electronic climate control connects to so it can control both the temperature and the speed at which the air blows into the passenger compartment. The A/C will wire right to the switch, the Rear Defroster will too, the inside/outside air re-circulator will also wire right up. So we will have to see.
If anyone has completed their climate control swap feel free to let me know if there were a lot of additional parts you need to complete the swap.
Thankyou.

Re: Acura CL Interior and Dash in a CD Accord Coupe (ricehead)
front seats yes. rear seats is a negative i believe. cluster is a go. little things like visors, courtesy light are a go. (courtesy light for the EX)

Everything from the dash and center console forward will fit. The back seat will not fit, neither will the panels surrounding it. The door panels will not fit either.
So far I have the door panels, dash, rear seat, side panels, electronic climate control, gauge cluster and a few other small goodies set up. I added the entire rear suspension from the CL down to the brakes etc... I am also using the evaporator box and another piece from the CL to get the climate control working.

Re: (Conflicted)
I also swaped the cl door panels into my accord, the upper panel wont work ( maybe it will if you have the cl door handle) so you gotta use your accord upper panel and cl lower panel...
same thing with the rear quarter panels, use the accord upper panel and cl lower panel.
im probably gonna get the cl rear seats and some recaros infront

Conflicted, You have done alot to your car man. I would really like to see some pics of the RSX seats in there. Just to see how it looks, thnx!

The RSX seats are perfect. I drive my car with a little bit of a recline because im 6' 4" so I have no choice but they are excellent. They are a considerable improvement over the stock seats, no complaints here. Will post pics soon...no pics til the ride is painted...
Wait til you see what cars coming next...

I did this swap about a year ago from a CL at the local wrecker. Didnt have enough cash to get the climate control to work so decided just to throw the accord factory into the glove box. All in all it was an easy swap. I took the rods for the door locks and the handle so i could use the complete acura door panel but i had to use the top half of the rear accord panel. And dont mind the different airbag in the dash that is the accord one since they had salvaged the cl one.
ps. sorry for the messy vehicle. i just took these pics tonight and since i blew up the H22 last week i havent bothered to clean it out.
