Finally boosted.. well almost... [New Pics: 6/23/07]
**UPDATED** There is lots of before/during/after. New: De-ghettoized setup installed on Pg 10... plus mote TBA!
Ok, Finally I am boosted, I got all of the right equipment before I did the job...
Mind you, this is a complete budget car... I have spent a minimal amoutn of cash on this thing... needless to say I got the car with 2 holes in the motor and no computer for free, and I built a basically new motor for under $200. Long story short:
The car is a 94 Civic EX.
D15B8 Frankenstein motor (non-VTEC)
MaxSpeed Coilovers / Camber kit
BLOX Rear LCA's
GSR Rear swaybar
Foged front corners
Came with pre-riced vents painted red, as well as a red LED for a cablight
D16Z6 Tranny
Triple pillar pod (need to replace gauges)
Big bondo patch on the passenger quarter, 80% complete.
I peiced together a cruse budget setup for the turbo kit.
SSAC style manifold (69.99 on ebay with $25 shipping)
T3 .42/.48 from a volvo at pick 'n pull. Has shaftplay.. upon decel, you hear it shaking around a little, but there is another reason for this.
$25 in supplies from home-cheepo for charge piping. 2" Schedule 40.
Misc hose clamps, couplers and bolts from the garage
BOV from the volvo
Ok, we got everything on but the only thing I am missing at this point is an oiling system. I have been plugging off the return hole and just adding oil to a small resivor for it... works for testing purposes. As I said, this is budget for now untill everything is ready to be upgraded and some real money put in.
[IMG][/IMG]
So far the entire project has cost me under $600. I plan to put in more money as soon as I get it registered and back on the road so I can sell my EG 4D. The EG still has a clean title, so I should be able to ger $1,600 for it.
So far the test runs have been promising.. it makes me want to pull the motor out because the cluttch that came with the $50 D15B8 must have some oil on it or something, because it slips out very easily... it did before the turbo.
I have 2 clutches lying around... I just need to take the motor out to change it... this is because the tranny mount bolts were stripped out completely. to install (Didn't feel like switching casings) I had to JB them in there. I plan on getting new bearings for my old ZC tranny... but it needs some bearings, and synchro sliders, these ones are ground down... the mainshaft was soo bad aligned, it couldn't sync right.
The shift linkage is bent... I don't know how it was done, but the shifter is cocked to the right.... it barely goes into reverse... I need to get one soon.
Aside from all the blundrs along the way the ricemobile has been progressing... the body will get finished and re-painted... I think I am going to find a stock EX spoiler for it... it has the holes already.
When testing out on the first run, we didn't glue the pvs... we shot a peice clean off under the tire and it got obliterated =P So we went back, and fitted up a new peice, then glued it all making a few spots for couplings to hold it all while making it removable. We already have an IC core off of a Jetta we are parting out... so I just need to get some real piping in the future and route it up.
In the pictures the turbo is reversed from how it is now... I was just trying it reversed to see if I could route it better, but I chose not to. The exhaust is pointed out the drivers side now. Yes... that is a C-Clamp holding a peice cut out of a sign to block the wastegate port untill we machine a blockoff plate.
For a D15 non-VTEC this thing gets up quick with the turbo.. hands down. I need to get the BOV on it though... it is wanting it bad. Oil line kit is the next thing... and once I get that I will install the whole kit on my D15B VTEC... which eventually will get swapped into the ricemobile.
There are more pictures to some of the project... and more tidbits along the way. But enough, here they are.

horray for ghetto turbo setup....
that is the most thrown together junk setup ive ever seen... and you cant even run an oil line to it... adding oil to it for testing purposes you have to be kidding me
no downpipe at all either?
"the car works good with the turbo but it wants a blow off valve.." thats hilarious
and what the hell did u use for piping?
that radioactive symbol on the hood says it best...... TICKING TIME BOMB

WTF! PVC piping??? taking it back old school. u'll blow them pipes off..... well maybe not, u probably wont be pushing enough air to blow it off.
if ur on a budget, do what u gotta do. but if anyone ask u to see under the hood, for the love of god, dont open it!!!! at least paint the PVC black

No one, mostly because I wouldn't associate myself with someone who thinks that's a turbo setup.

I'll save you a lot of time... Go buy a stick of dynamite and light it off undernearth your engine and then give me all the money you have. You'll end up with a blown engine and no money either way, but my way you'll at least save time.
