how hard is it to put an F20C or F22C in a 4thgen prelude
how hard is it to put an F20C or F22C in a 4thgen prelude, or what all would i need to do. is it even possiple without rediculas amounts of money

Not that hard, I'm sure if you folded down the back seat you could lay it on it's side... just drain all the fluids and take off the manifolds

how much fab. experience do you have? i've seen a prelude w/ a rwd conversion (rx7 irs iirc) w/ an ls1 or something, so i'm sure it CAN be done, it's mostly just a matter of how bad you want it in there..

How much is a RIDICULOUS amount of money to you?
You'd need, the f20c/22c motor, tranny, and necessary components. Then you'd have to cut up the Prelude. Convert it to RWD. There's probably a lot of custom work to be done. Probably quite a bit of money too.
Since you even had to ask if it was hard and asked if there was a way to do it w/out spending a "rediculas" amounts of money, then don't even bother trying. You'd be better off just buying an s2k.

There's no torque on any of these cars especially before VTEC. And it's not like the S2000 is light weight. There's like 150 pounds difference. Did you happen to think of the S2000 gearbox? It has 6-gears with a pretty damn low ratio to make up for the lack of torque.

I never imagined an RB26 in a Classic Mustang until I watched F&FTD!
Hahahahah......I just admitted that I watched it!
I'd say the F20/F22C would be easier than the LS1 or AWD 4G63!...

why not just build an H series motor????

NirVTEC, you're right. With enough money you can do anything. Total reverse engineered chassis remanufactured in carbon fiber with perfect weight distribution using a 400awhp Hayabusa-derived mid engine V8 with fully adjustable pushrod/bellcrank inboard suspenion, lexan windows etc. etc.
However, you should easily be able to swap a RWD 2.2l F22C into a Prelude for $30K. And I'd be willing to bet that you could get the 99mm K24 crank to fit in that block too. It has been done before.
And the F20C is gutless Silver, Did you get the 2004+ model? Chop out the block, sleeve it to 89mm and get some pistons and camshafts. Or boost it.

I think he was refering the "thought of when High, but never practically executed when sober" fwd F20C/F22C mounting, like the one in the EG.
but in highly theoretical terms, a lightened RWD Prelude would be nice to throw around the track

well if i were to do it i would like to keep it FWD although a RW lude does sound badass. i was thinking that it might not be to bad if there was a FWD transmission that would fit the motor at least a little closely.

The way the motor and tranny are setup would force you to convert to RWD. All these crazy projects (RB26DETT in a Mustang, 2JZGTE in S2000s, LS1s in Preludes) take are lots of money, experience and imagination. The big question is if it's worth it.
Personally, I like my H22, it fits just right in there.
