But anyways I need to know all the small things that im not going to expect. Im puting a d16y8 in and trying to keep the old ECU so I bought a buddy club vtec controller so vtec will switch over. And im tryin to keep the cost down so the stock y7 harness is going to be used thats where I really need all the help iev been told that it all plugs right in I mean atleast thats what I thoght. but im leavin it up to yall for help..thanks!

You should really try your hardest to get a 96-98 EX ecu mostly because of 2 things - the IACV and VTEC.
Yes, you could use a VTEC controller to make VTEC work, but you'll be lacking the VTEC fuel and timing maps that an EX/D16Y8 ecu has, and what a DX ecu doesn't have at all.
2nd, the Y8 engine use a 2-wire IACV whereas your Y7 engine uses a 3-wire IAC. The Y7 ecu looks for a 3-wire IACV. So if you try using your DX ecu on a Y8 engine, you're going to get a check engine light for the IACV because the Y8 doesnt use a 3-wire IACV. BTW, the IACV on a Y7 engine is integrated on the throttlebody; the Y8 IACV is seperate and located on the backside of the intake manifold. Altho, an AUTO Y8 intake manifold uses a 3-wire IACV!
A couple solutions you can try would be this:
1) What you can do is, and I'm not sure if this will work 100%, is to use your DX throttlebody on the EX engine. You might have to swap out the throttle pulley for the EX throttle pulley, oh and you'll need a EX throttle cable.
2) if you wind up going with teh VTEC controller route, just use your complete DX intake manifold on the EX head, it will bolt up.

Thanks guys! I think I mite go on a little parts hunt befor trying to to put it in. What are the #'s on the 96-98 ex ECU is it a p2p? Becues I know the 99-00 ex harness is a little diffrent and will not work like the 99-00 ex ECU but I don't know what the #'s are on the 99-00 ecu?
