Default Project LS Non-VTEC begins.

After installing a stock B20B in a friend's car and tuning it with some Crower 403's and Hondata, I got the bug to build an all motor non-VTEC engine. I needed a stock LS to begin with, so yesterday I picked up a fairly clean 1994 Integra LS.

Today I baselined the vehicle and it made a respectable 120/133. Then we plugged in a Hondata S300 and made a few passes to clean up the A/F and timing maps. The tired bone stock motor made 127/135.

The project motor is off getting sleeved to 85mm, the pistons are on order, the head and the intake manifold are being ported by Import Builders, a stock B20 crank is getting reworked by Castillo, a JDM 4-1 ITR header is sitting in the garage, next to some Crower 405A Non-VTEC cams, so when it all comes together, the car goes back on the dyno for some more tuning. The compression will be in the neighborhood of 11.5:1. More on the project as it developes...

ya saying im following this build is an understatement.

howd you get that hump at 3200 on a stock motor, looks like its got a CAI on it...

dont you love that 8 ft/lb dip at 4k you get with a stock IM and cams

Eerie, it's like looking in a mirror isn't it?
I've got a green 4-door Integra with B20Z and GSR transmission. Although, I've got 403's in my closet just waiting to be installed...so mine is a milder version of your build ..can't wait to see your results

sounds like a good built...i had an all motor ls in my civic with 404s crower dual valve springs and crower retainers sitting on jdm itr pistons. but i went the itb route instead of a intake manifold. it was a really nice set up. good luck

i just sold a customer a straight LS i rebuilt years ago and never ran. only performance improvement was radiused/recontoured piston tops. it went into a 2000 Si with matching tranny to replace a blown b16 while i repaired some broken guides... and i couldnt believe how great the thing went from idle to about 6,000 rpm with stock intake and ex system, completely untuned.

when the b16 head went back on with a .015" mill, valvejob and some chamber/throat cleanup it obviously picked the power up to 8k or so, but really took a dive on the off-idle torque from the ports getting so much larger.

anyways, nothing wrong with nonvtec.

Removed the stock exhaust manifold, cat, and b-pipe today. Installed a JDM ITR 4-1, straight pipe, and ITR B-pipe today. Thanks to Brian at After Hours for a little exhaust fab work Car feels better, but only the dyno will tell for sure. I am going to try and get back on the dyno tomorrow and see what gains/losses the exhaust change made. Hopefully will be able to start assembling the 2 liter motor next week.

Quick update-put the car on the dyno-made a couple of passes to clean up the A/F. Picked up a fair amount of power by replacing the stock exhaust with the JDM ITR 4-1 header, no cat and an ITR B-pipe:

Had some free time and did some more tuning. Installed an AEM CAI from my ITR in an attempt to get rid of the nasty LS dip at 4,000 RPM-it worked! This tired little LS motor is starting to break the tires loose in first gear !!!

Im curious how you are going to make the new motor work with 405's with 11.5/ 1 compression. You could make it 13:1 to one and still run pump with those cams
