96 -98 Power Window Conversion using Door Harnesses and NO Floor Harness
Ok so use this chart if you DONT WANT TO use the Floor harness!! Since monicle's site is down alot lately I thought I would post this up.. for all those people wanting to tackle this (Monicle if you want me to take this off let me know.. I saved it to my computer one day just in case lol)
================================================== ===
This is my setup:
(All parts are from a 99-00 Si)
- Power Window Regulators (Should be the same for years 96-00)
- Door Harness (96-00 harnesses have the SAME COLOR WIRES)
- Door Panels (Should be the same for years 96-00.. Color may differ)
================================================== ===
================================================== ===
if you DONT care about using the driver side to control the passenger side here is what you have to do: (again this is courtesy of monicle via old posts)
Driver Side (all wires come directly out of the plug connecting to the switch):
- Power -> Blue/Black Wire
- Ground -> 2 Black Wires
Passenger Side (all wires come directly out of the plug connecting to the switch):
- Power -> Green/Black Wire
- Ground -> Blue/Yellow and Blue/Orange Wire
note: I would do this first before connecting driver side to passenger side and running/hiding all the wires to make sure the regulators work. This will save u some time from trying to diagnose a wiring problem when in fact it is the regulators that are busted.
================================================== ===

- Connect the Blue/Yellow and Blue/Orange Wire from the driver side switch to the passenger side switch.
- Connect the Green/Black wire from Driver side to Passenger side (So the passenger side Green/Black wire is connected to the power source AND the driver side door)
================================================== ===
some notes:
- MAKE SURE YOU GROUND THE WIRES GOOD (I was having problems because I did not have a good Ground!!! I ended up grounding the 2 black wires to the screws that hold the regulator in)
- per Monicle use a 20 amp fuse if you connect directly to the battery (this is how I did it the first time.. only problem is that the power windows will ALWAYS work. So you might want to get power from something else that turns on when the key is on.. I redid my wiring and connected all wires that needed power to the cigarette lighter (white wire) I also changed the fuse under the dash for the cigarette lighter to a 20 amp fuse(it is the 5th fuse from the left on the top row). I had the 10 amp fuse in there but the fuse blew.. I Have had the 20 amp fuse in for a week and its ok)
================================================== ===
(for those of you who say.. GET THE FLOOR HARNESS.. please do not comment.. I do not want to spend another 100.00 for this conversion)
BTW, Doing it this way only took me 3 hours for wiring.. just cuz I had to figure out how to get the driver side to control the passenger side.. and I also tried to make the wiring as clean as possible.. plus it was a pain in the a$$ to get the wires from the door to the cabin.. If i did it again, it would probbaly only take me an hour for wiring. So doing it this way saves someone from tearing up the whole car and using the wiring harness.
PLEASE BUMP IF THIS HELPED U!!

Not to jack: I was planning on using 96-98 civic ex parts for it as I thought they would be close to the 96 hatch which is what we have.
Whdy did you use SI parts? Just want to make sre before I buy something... I suppose I need door panels as well, right?

I got the SI parts because that was the car i found with the parts.. i asked monicle and he told me that the door harnesses are the same so that part doesnt matter..
yes u will need door panels unless u custom urs now.. but that would be soo ghetto..
monicle is helping me through pm.. I will post anything i find out in this thread..

Monicles chart WORKS..
I feel like a dumba$$ admitting this.. but I just didnt ground the wires that well.. this time around i grounded every wire to its own bolt.. and it worked!! WOOHOO!! I got each side to work on its own..
Now I just need to get the driver side to control the passenger side.. haven't tackled that yet.. Ill do that tomorrow since Im too lazy to do it today.. lol .. thanks monicle!!

I know, that's why I got rid of my EK hatch. I liked my EX coupe much better. I totalled up the full cost of making the hatch equal to a EX with power options, it was better to move on to new car!
