The Rebuild of My EF
Upon my return from my tour of duty in Kandahar Afghanistan, I was almost certain to find myself a newer car and sell the old EF.
But something in my mind said "NO! Rebuild the EF!"
I've made my decision to rebuild the EF from scratch... and an apology was made to my car for even thinking about selling her.
Here's some before pics:
My buddies shop where the overhaulin' took place:
A nice EK happend to be in the shop so I snapped a pixor:
It took me and my buddy a few days to totally gut the car, but after we were done:
Ahh yes... Great Canadian Winter roads and their GOD DAMN SALT!!! I wasn't surprised to find this and more rust on this car:
Well, there is no turning back now. The appointment for full vehicle sand blasting is in 2 days.
I will try to update this thread daily or as much as I can.

Excellent thread, I love seeing cars like this that are literally started from scratch. What are you going to do about the heavy rusting on the bottom? Weld new metal panels in or something?
Welcome back from Afghanistan

Re: The Rebuild of My EF (skunkzEF)
Thanks all around.
Yes I plan to cut and weld new metal in many spots on this car. Hopefully after sand blasting I can tell exactly where to cut and weld.

p.s. can you keep an eye on the expense report and let us know exactly or approximately how much this process of sandblasting..then primer ..then painting from scratch migh cost? i know its an awful lot..but us poor college kids gotta start saving sometime for projects like these

Nice buildup. Can't wait to see the finish. That is one rusty trunk floor, I really can't wait to see how that is addressed.
