Default Re: Electric water pump Qs ? (BlownB18)

yes i have one. it was on the car when i bought it. it's a mezziere (sp). honestly man i dont like it. its a huge PITA. there is a switch that is wired to the dash that you have to throw everytime you start the car and everytime you shut the car off. ok so thats not a big deal. but its difficult to run the waterpump with a stock thermostat. or any thermostat i suppose. in order to get the thing running right, the owner had to drill holes in the thermostat. this causes you to have no heat. that is not good. also it takes forever to warm the car up. i mean FOREVER. and running the car cold is bad news. i usually end up starting the car with it on, letting it idle for a few min, then shutting it off and letting the car warm up to normal temp..then turning it back on. it also runs the car realllllllllly cold. especially when yer just cruising along and chilling. i mean so that the temp gauge is almost on cold. for long periods of time, if yer just cruising and not getting on the throttle. honestly i think this is more of a race only kind of item, unless yer a nut and dont care about heat and comfort and stuff. yes it shows dyno improvements. yes it frees up power. but is it worth the huge pita? and what happens and those occassions you forget to turn the pump on and you look down and find the temp gauge (which is now useless - it doesn't do jack **** - get a water temp gauge) at hot or above. your choice.
