Supertech valvetrain w/ either Skunk2 Pro3 or RM M22xx cams. What pistons are you going to use? Does it come with the stoker kit? 2.2L , that's serious ****.

I had nice success with JUN3s

a nice header with 2.5in collector, higher flowing cat

definitely get valve train, be wary of long term use if running ti retainers, they wear out.

maybe a slight port/polish on the head, matching intake/exhaust

Id go with larger injectors as well, 370s should be ample.

mounts or inserts would be a nice idea as well.

I like these kind of threads, always interesing to see input on people's build-ups.
Plus it gives some insight on what works well and what doesn't that you just don't get from manufacturers.

With a 2.2L, run 550cc injectors.

With 11.4:1 CR (why so low?), you don't have enough cylinder pressure to make use of very large cams, so something along the lines of TODA B,C, JUN 3, Rocket M22X (or M22XX), BC4, Pro1/2.

You could make a buttload more power with more CR, and you will be perfectly safe on 92 with a good tuner.

The m24 cam from Rocket would be perfect for this setup.

But I agree with Marshall. See if you can bump your comp a bit with a thinner headgasket and valves. Should make some good power.

I thought that was a little stange as well but I wanted to see what others thought before I ran my mouf . I would think that 12.5:1 CR would be more ideal, maybe even higher.

Does a stroker kit come with the pistons? Or is it just the crank and rods?

yep the stoker kit comes with the pistons. I'm just worried that if I go higher on the CR that it won't be drivable. It's still going to be a daily driver.

Yes I'm also getting all new valvetrain. Will TI valve train last long?

Could you guys suggest a specific set of cams?

Hah, you're stroking to 2.2 and adding huge cams and are worried about a little extra compression for DD!?! Already mentioned...."go big or go home!"

Good luck with the build......Opie will be jealous

Both Marshall and Nate suggested some good cams for you. Daily driver status will still be acheived with a good tune. 12.5:1 is fine. I know a few peeps up here that daily drive high comp, ITB'd, 2.0L, etc. motors with little to no problems

What is the piston size on the 2.2L kit? I too, would recommend increasing the compression ratio. This would also enable you to go with a more aggressive cam.

I would guess a pretty good size crank like a 96mm stroke w/ a 85mm bore...

So it looks as if your choices are 84mm or 85mm. You'll get a tad bit more power if you went 85mm and higher compression.

You could always sell those pistons since they will be new. Seems as if your dead set on lower compression however.

Thats a lot of stroke for a street car.

We built a 98mm stroker B for our drag car and after three passes the top layer of the rod bearings were worn off. I would say it is good for another 12 passes before needing new bearings. Max RPM was 9200. With a long stroke you get a sh*tload of bearing wear.

If he's doing a 95mm stroker, he would be best off with a rebuild after 30k, if he drives it without revving the **** out of it.

91mm stroker however...

For the topic starter, I'll reiterate again, run more compression, and do some searching on the cams we've listed thus far.

Depends on the size of the cams. ITR cams, or similar mild cam, 12.5:1. Large primaried cams, 13.5-13.8:1.

Further more, if you're dumping all this time and money into a build...DUN CHEAP OUT ON TUNING!!! Find a good tuner..no...Find a GREAT TUNER

don't cheap out on fuel either. you're spending an assload of money for a build, run some better liquids through it if available. an extra buck or two per gallon at the pump isn't going to kill you. it'll also be better for the motor if infact you stay with your plans. git 'er dun

Opie this guy isn't bullshittin' with your old 97

Gotta Question? What if I used the stock cams with the build? Will it work? Which hondata system should I get (s100, s200, or s300)? Should I do a obd 1 conversion? I'm new to this stuff BTW. Will 370cc injectors be engouh? Should I get a fuel rail? I need to get some more specs on the parts. The guy building my engine is ordering the parts. Should I upgrade the ignition system (MSD)?

Yes they will work, but why?

Rocket Motorsports M24X cams would work well for this setup. For 2.0 they need 11.5:1 so you'll be fine. Your CR is fine as well, better flow than if you had a higher CR. Less weight as well. That is a lot of stroke though. A whole lot of stroke.

Any of the Hondata Units will be sufficient for your tuning, as I hope only a tuner will be touching the unit's perameters. Yes you will need an oBd conversion. The injectors you've chosen should do the work needed and I wouldn't worry about a fuel rail but if you like how they look, go for it. You'll need an FPR (fuel pressure regulator) and a fuel pressure gauge. ITR cams will be OK for now, but look into some cams for the future to really take advantage of the motor.

Further more, have you thought about a header? I know that Intec racing has a 2.1l DTR header for sale right now, which should work. You will need a header built for this motor to really get the most out of it. I would put more weight into a header before cams...

What about your drive train? What clutch/flywheel are you thinking about running? Have you thought about a higher final drive or even a cross gear set (close ratio gears)?

The factory ignition is enough upto around 300hp peope say so I wouldn't worry about an MSD ignition booster unless you like replacing your spark plugs every 1500 miles. However, you will want to invest in some good plug wires and I would suggest going with a colder plug like the BKR7E-11 from NGK. Its what 92typer and I run ( his suggestion ) otherwise, you could see some detonation. As far as I know, they're only available at http://www.sparkplugs.com. If you do end up w/ and MSD ignition box, get the BKR7EIX-11. Its a Iridium plug and will last longer then a conventional plug when used w/ a MSD box.

Thanks guys very good info. I want to hold off on the cams for now. I don't have enough money to get em yet. so far I've spent almost 6500. Yes I'll be upgrading the clutch but not the flywheel. I also already have headers. Is the Toda 4-2-1 header any good? they came with the car.
