No tears. Only dreams, now.
Search.
It's up under the dash on the driver's side. It's up above the hood release latch. It's a 3" by 1.5" black and brown plastic box. There's one white plug that goes into it, and it's held to the chassis by one 12mm or 10mm bolt. Take the bolt off instead of popping out the relay itself. Some say it's even easier if you pop out the coin tray, but I never found that to be the case.
Search for ways of rebuilding it, or just get a used one.

Search.
Tried that .Sorry! No luck with that! Read thru a whole bunch of no start posts with no resolve, the relay was talked about but never nailed down a location, which you have kindly done Thank you!
Its funny Its the same on most boards people talk about the fixes and stuff but only give part of the info asuming everyone else knows exsactly where everything is placed on each car alot of us don't have a clue where to begin,
I have asked several questions on this board and most guys like your self are nice enough to answer .And this board is a very good one for answers!
Some boards you get flamed and the like.
Here is one of the best ,someone did every one a great service by posting this.
Great people!

I searched archived posts (you have to do that because the old-timers have moved on from this forum, and consequently the knowledge has ummm... fallen flat on its ***. ) and I found this.
This doesn't look like what I remember, but it's a start.

It doesn't hurt if you're duoble jointed.
To be honest with you, I think I broke my dash open to get to mine.. But seriously, it's easy enough to do if you can crawl up in there and see where it's connected. Once you get it out, don't bother bolting it back up... it also makes a great theft deterrent to just unsnap it and take it with you.

Re: 91 honda civic Main Relay Location Please!!!!!!!!! (benh)
i got one last fall for my crx, cost like $70CDN at the dealer (dealer only item too).
i took out the coin holder (a whopping 3 screws) and it was required (for CRX).
getting it out is no problem, get up there w/ a wrench/socket and take out the bolt. it's harder getting it back in there. i was almost tempted to let it just hang there but i got it.
plan on doing the ign. switch next. (mine was dead shortly after due to numerous key on, key off trying to get the relay to work)

So you said you changed the relay and it still doesn't work?!?! This problem has been going on for a year now and the past six months i've been trying to fix it.
Check my post to see what I've done. I don't wanna pluck $90 for a main relay and won't solve the problem.

Get the main relay out,
Pop the black cover off. You will see a bunch of sodiers. Take you sodiering iron and simply remelt the sodering points.
cake.

Re: 91 honda civic Main Relay Location Please!!!!!!!!! (stdefhatch)
I took my coin holder out, and then took the cover off my relay. So now I just have it hanging out of the slot where the coin holder was. After some toying I found out that if you squeeze the main relay or press the board down really hard it will click and your fuel pump will prime! No joke! I think just be squeezing it, it makes the connections work. It is a quick fix for now.

if yours starts but immediately dies then thats a sign of a bad ignition switch again, fairly easy.
