A factory B-series Honda crank will support 1000whp. They are some of the best made cranks you can run. I wouldn't run anything else.

Im glad it will support 1000hp...

But...I asked a very specific question...

Can an ITR crank withstand several hundred rpms of mashing the valves into a head?

I would say yes, not that I have any proof or anything, but I know they are forged and I've seen several motors that have bent valves(including my roomates) and the cranks are untouched. The only time I've seen a crank go is either with a spun rod bearing, and then there was some other douche that spun his stock ITR motor to 10,500 and jammed the piston into the head.

*edit* I'm not a crank guru.

you can always ship it to castillo's crank service or some other crank shop...
you might pay a little but personally i'd rather be safe than sorry..and they can micropolish it and all that other wonderful crank work stuff

I had an engine catastrophe that involved dropped valves and chewed up pistons. The ITR crank was fine and is still making great power in my daily driver.

Generally, the weakest part is going to take the brunt of the blow. In this case, that would be the pistons.
