89 si hatch, turbo'd, battery relocated to the bag via amplifier wiring kit (4 guage wire) Ok, problems started last nite. Friend went to get into the backseat of my hatch, kicked off the amplifier power wire, (i have the amp behind my driver seat, usually dont have passengers so was never a problem), but the wire gets knocked into the ground or just the amp itself, no biggy. So i turn the car off, reconnect the amp, and go to start the car and it clicks rapidly and doesnt start, and i let it sit for a second, try again and theres no reaction when i turn the ignition key. I'm thinkin the battery is just dead so i switch with the battery from my other car, and same results, no response at all when the ignition is turned in any position. So today I had a friend try to jump me, thinkin that maybe the batterys are too weak and that doesnt work either. Hook up the mulitmeter and with the car in the off position it shows full voltage, as soon as its turned to an on position the voltage drops down low, and it does this with the jumper cables hooked up to my friend's car as well. He thinks theres a short grounding out somewhere because he found continuity btwn some power and ground spots, but it could have also potentially been there b4 this problem, my car is ghetto as ****. I am stumped and have no ideas. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

you checked all your fuses right?and the relays?

Yep all the fuses in the car and under the hood are fine.

sounds like a short somewhere or a relay\fuse went.

Thats what i'm thinkin. But where do i even begin to check? This pisses me off because i just got the car running again after like a month of trying to find a trans worth puttin in.

Check the grounds. When I first put my battery in the trunk I didn't have a good ground spot. Had someone sitting on the cargo cover and messed it up a little, when I was driving it was fine. The next time I went to start the car, it would appear to be on until I turned the key to start and then it would click and everything would go dead. Turned out the ground lead was arcing to the frame when it died (right under the rear carpet, great!). Fixed the ground and no problems since.

Check all the ground connections for sure, cause when you relocate the battery it can take a few trys to get a good ground connection.

I have the same problem in my 87 Si. There are 2 wires attached to the positive terminal off of my battery, one goes down to the starter, the other goes to the rest of the car. However, there is a splice in the 2nd wire that was done poorly, so if i took a hard corner, it'd cut off all power. It could just be my alarm, but I'd lose all my power and then when I tried to turn the car on again, I'd get no electrical response whatsoever. Check the wiring off of your battery. Also, try turning on your hazard lights. If those work then it's a connection issue somewhere.

Ok cool, i'ma check that stuff later, just got off work. I think that my ground should be find because it was running with the battery in the back for more than 6 months. My worst fear is that when that amp wire grounded out, some random wire in the wiring harness melted b4 the fuse blew, because no fuses are blown, not even the fuse between the amp and the battery, weirdness.

Could you elaborate more on this? How was the ground lead arcing to the frame? Shouldnt the frame be grounded?

Update though, i have electrical response with everything, turn out my buddy had the radio fuse out the other day so it appeared that i had no dash or clock lights or anything. But everything works, headlights hazards and radio, but when i turn the car to the start position theres no clicks from the starter or anything and everything kinda goes dead.

Ok now the headlights dont work. When the car is turned to the acc position, the radio comes on and the clock works, but when it is turned one more to the ON position, everything dies. Or if i try to turn the headlight on while the car is off or in the acc position, the headlights dont work and if its in the acc position the radio dies. Also tried these same tests with my friend trying to jump the car because i assumed the battery was drained, same results. And my battery reads 12.5 volts.

EDIT:
Its weird cus i just went back outside tried the key in acc and it worked, tried it in ON and it worked, but i tried to do my headlights and the battery dies still, and it does the same if i try to go to start. And after trying that twice, it doesnt work in the ON position now either.

Mine was arcing because the connection was bad, so it jumped the gap when I was pulling a lot of power. It wasn't clamped down tight enough, and basically I just had a bad grounding spot.
