DIY: Oem radio changen color w/ pix
Let me start off sayin this is my first DIY and i hope this helps everyone and im not 100% sure if this write up isnt on here but... hey whatever i got nothing better to do now
I did this on a 2000 stock cd player radio... may work with others too but im not guaranteeing anything i guess someone could try and tell me how it goes... this is a tedious project ez but fine... if you break anything its your fault myne has been apart 2x now
As for taking and putting the radio back in there are many threads on it (honda-tech automated response) SEARCH
1. start off by having your cd player out on a towel something you can spare remove
A. Sound/turn on **** button thingey
B. HARDEST PART OF WHOLE PROJECT.... take the black part (face) off youll notice around the side there are little clamps holding it on its a bytch to get off but with alittle forcing and usen a flat head screwdriver 2 help it will come off
2. Removing the chip with lights on the other side
A. there are two screws that are hard to see (i tried forcing it off after much frustration i had to laugh seeing the screws) take these out and the chip should come out easy as hell
3. Assemble your crap
A. I used orange engine enamel
B. Q tips
C. Paper Plates
D. Paper Towels
4. Painting Lights
A. Get a small piece of paper towel and push it over the bulb so you dont hit anything also if you want use something like a screwdriver 2 hold it down
B. Spray the paint onto the plate thickly
C. Quickly grab the Q tip and roll it around
D. Dab the Q tip onto the bulb until orange is on good (no more coats are needed i believed because i didnt want it dim)
E. Repeat (leave the red dimmed bulb uncolored hence that being the alarm light)
5. Let it dry (shouldnt take long i left it over night though because it wasnt needed at the time)
6. Pop back in the radio
myne came out exactly how i wanted it matched the cluster perfect
i plan to do the climate control and add in the cluster two defi D series gauges hence the color

Looks good bro
I did my climate control and gauge cluster on my EG but what I did was went to the dealer and got the 00 si climate control bulbs and just used the amber condoms to put on the climate and gauge cluster bulbs.
Im doing my radio next the same way.

i think u can just unscrew the bulb fittings, and thats all....! u dont have to 'de-faced' the whole thing.
mine come stock with greenish silicon condom like rubber covering the lights. but i took all the condoms out, and its a little bit orangeish... not as orange as the one above. still look nice tho.
nice DIY btw....
