Oil Catch Can
A lot of people are telling me that by adding those oil catch can, it can prolong my engine life. I'm not sure what is the benefit & what does the oil catch can do. If anyone here can explain it to me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

this is the process i was told by inlinefour.com. theres a vacuum line that connects your valve cover and intake manifold, you'll need to remove it. decide where you're going to place the catch can in the engine bay, and make sure you have enough vacuum line to run from the valve cover to the catch can, and from the catch can back to the intake manifold (i used stainless steel lines). secure the catch can in the engine bay (some catch cans have brackets to secure it) and hook up all the vacuum lines. remove the lid and place some fairly fine grit steel wool inside (sorry i forgot what grit i used). make sure that the air coming from the valve cover goes through some of the wool before it can escape to the intake, this will filter out any oil in the air. put the lid back on and you are ready to go.

anyone know which oil catch can works best and isnt too expensive? i heard the Greddy one doesnt work as well.

Re: (tdo)
you can make your own using some tubing, ( high heat ) and a filter for a air compressor... install it just as it is explained above, but just put the air filter in the place of the catch can.. works great and all for about under 30 bucks... u can get the parts at lowes or home depot or whatever hardware place you shop at...
BTW.. the filter is a little white filter inside of a small glass jar kinda thingy.. it has one screw in openings on each side, and you can prolly get a good look at it by going here...
http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn...=none thats the one im talking about..

Some say that steel wool will rust and the peices will break off and go into your engine. I would use plastic wool like the stuff they sell as kitchen scrubbers at the grocery store. I CRAMMED mine full of that stuff and it works great.
Also make sure that the can you get can be taken apart so that you can run the proper hoses inside and fill it with the plastic wool.

its a air filter for an air compressor.. it filters the air going to your tools to prevent a build up of dirt particles in your air tools.. it works really good as a catch can.. the year or so i worked at lowes i had at least 10 people from SRT forums coming in and buying the stuff i listed earlier to make a catch can for their SRT-4's... so i know it works really well. i talked to a few of them..
