installing OEM foglights on a 4th gen... any tips?
i've bought a set of JDM yellow fogs for my '94 prelude, and i've already gotten the original honda instructions for installing them. but if anyone has any extra tips on the install, i'd be glad to hear them
here is where i found the original instructions. but now my question for those who have installed the OEM foglights themselves (i.e. they weren't on the car when you bought it, and thus had to cut a part out of the bumper,...) , do you have any pointers for me to look out for

Tis really easy!
Be careful cutting the bumper - a dremel tool will serve you well here... I had to make do with a hacksaw blade (wasnt as easy).
Be careful you dont crack the shrouds when you tighten them up - dont over tighten.

Righteo, for those of you wanting to install jdm foglights using the existing wiring, you've found the right thread.
What you will need:
1. Set of jdm foglights
2. Foglight switch (optional, i guess any other switch will be fine, but I will assume u have the switch)
3. A bit of extra wire
4. Spade terminals (male and female) plus crimping tool and cutting device
5. Foglight relay, available from jaycar or dick smiths for a few bucks. 12V 30amp horn relay is what i used
Instructions
I will use pictures where possible..Sorry about the quality. My good camera is MIA at work
1. Remove front part of centre console so you can see back to the rear section. You will find a plug, blue-taped to the hazard light harness. Remove the tape.
2. Cut the plug off these wires (wire colours are black, red/yellow, red/black)
3. Hopefully, the foglight switch you have will have a plug, plugged into it with an inch or so of the same coloured wires on it. You will need to join the foglight wires to the wires in the car listed in point 2. You will probably need to extend the wires a bit so it reaches
PIC 1: Switch extensions
PIC 2: Joined to car
PIC 3: Switch location
4. Ok. Now remove the kick panel under the steering wheel. There like 4 or 5 screws and you need to give it a yank to unclip the clip.
5. Remove the air conditioning duct pipe.
6. Look up. Somewhere you will find a brown plug blue-taped to a wire loom. It will have the following wire colours:
Red/Yellow, Red/Black, Red/Green, Red/Blue
7.
- Attatch the red/yellow wire to pin 85 on the relay
- Attatch the red/black wire to pin 30 on the relay
- Attatch the red/green wire to pin 87 on the relay
- Attatch pin 86 on the relay to the chassis
- Forget red/blue wire. Its a constant active and not needed.
*note, i used speaker wire to do all the connections cos thats all i had
Mess of wires!
Wires into relay
The Brown Plug
Can plug the wires directly into the brown plug using male spade bits and onto the relay using female spade bits
8. Find the plugs in the front bar that are blue taped to the indicator wires. Plug in your foglights, no cutting required. Turn on the parkers, turn on the foglights. If it works, you're done

Hint:
The original JDM fog lights relay is the same as the ABS ones -> can be found on any ABS equipped lude on junkyard
It plugs directly to this brown plug, no need to make any rewiring or using a generic type relay

Re: (PreLuDeSiR)
The subharness is not necessary at all - it is only a kind of relongering to the wires from brown plug to relay. Straight 4 wires, nothing more. It's just to make possible to fix the relay next to cruise control unit. I have no idea why they did so strange solution, maybe just to complicate the simple thing a bit
As I wrote before, take the ABS relay from any prelude on yunkjard (it's the same as original JDM fog lights relay), no need to use the generic one. You just put this ABS relay to the brown plug and as you don't have the subharness, fix the relay to the main harness with scotch tape.

another way of installing the JDM fog lights is to wire it to your headlights. I wired the left foglight's positive and negative to the left headlight'slow beam positive and negative and same to the right side. This way you will not need a switch, the foglights will come on when your low beams go on.

Technically it is of course possible, but don't know how it is in US, here in Europe it is forbidden by traffic law to use the fogs all the time, they can be "on" only in limited visibility conditions as fog (that's why they are fog lights ), strong rain or snow.

Re: installing OEM foglights on a 4th gen... any tips? (xxredpreludesixx)
I know this write-up is for a 94-96
Does anybody know where the foglight switch harness is for a 93? In 93 preludes, there is nothing 'blue taped' to the hazard light harness.
So basically.... anybody know where the plug for the switch are located in a 93 prelude?

behind the tweeter cover on the drivers side.
There is a section of wire that goes down into a hole. pull it up and there should be a green plug in there
you have to dig a little

Re: (OEM_ASSASSIN)
Awesome... found it.
You weren't kidding when you said, "dig a little." The plug was taped to the bottom of the dash harness. It was actually right next to my fuse box. I had to remove the kick panel underneath the steering column.
I have yet another question... In my fog relay harness (the brown plug). There is no red/black wire coming from the brown plug. The wires in my brown plug are:
red/yellow (single wire)
red/yellow (two wires)
red/green
blue/red
It's written above that on the relay, pin 30 goes to the red/black wire. Anybody have any input on my situation?
My first guess is that the 94-96 wiring is a bit different than the 92-93.

This doesn't work.
I have a 95, the colors are Red/Blue, Red/Black, Red/Green and Red/Green again. Using DIY relay set-up it would power my parking lights!
Where is this ABS Relay Located?
