Default Where to buy BPST fitting for oil feed?

OK I'm convinced my oil feed/pressure sender tee is leaking like a sieve even though I can't see up there very well, there's oil all the hell over the place dripping onto my test pipe and garage floor. I'd like to do the endyn-style "run a flexible line to the firewall and put your tee there" but now that I'm certain the location is not a NPT fitting, I want to make sure I do it right... where am I going to find metric tapered pipe fittings? Has anyone come across a good way to get the job done?

Thanks!

Autometer
Part #: 2269
1/8" NPT to 1/8" BSPT
http://www.autometer.com/hp/2001_cat...sories/87.html

It's a male 1/8" bspt adapter that you screw into your oil port. The you have a 1/8" NPT port that you can then use.

That or you can just get a 1/8" NPT tap and tap out the port.

I would definately recommend NOT tapping the block, oil goes through there, you dont want any metal shavings floating around if you can avoid it.

you can get that autometer adapter, or you can get one from a comany called Sunpro. they're usually sold in a pack with a bunch of other adapters (like 6 different 1/8" npt adapters) at places like Pep Boys or Autozone etc..

You will also need the adapter that goes the other way: 1/8" NPT (male) to 1/8" BSPT (female).
I may still have an extra one. I ordered a few from Maryland Metrics a while back and have sold some. They had a $10 minimum purchase so I got 3 or 4.

e-mail me if you want one, I'll look for it.

I heard that the 1/8 BPST will thread right into the 1/8 NPT with a little teflon tape and seal ok. is this true??

I did the endyn style tee with a pig tail line from the block to the firewall. Using all earls fittings and ss auto flex hose, it cost me $73 shipped.

2 - 1/4 tp -4 adapters
1 - straight -4 hose end
1 - 90deg -4 hose end
3ft of auto flex ss hose

Sort of pricey, but after breaking 2 tee's off in the block in a week and losing $50 worth of sythetic oil, I coughed up the money. I could have done it cheaper, but I was in one of those fugg it moods.

Yes it works. I'm getting my oil from a port on the head that is 1/8 bspt. I put some teflon on it and it screwed in about 5 threads before it got tight, no leaks.

Yes it works. I'm getting my oil from a port on the head that is 1/8 bspt. I put some teflon on it and it screwed in about 5 threads before it got tight, no leaks.

I did this too, and mine threaded the entire way in. I used yellow teflon (it said gas, oil, and something else on it), and I have no leaks.

The autozone sunpro fittings are where it's at. The people at the counter didn't know what they were when I gave them the number. They are out with the perfomance products (chrome air fileter covers, etc). It's a little bag with a bunch of them in there.

I ran the sunpro fitting in the sending unit opening, then a 1/8 NPT fitting for 1/8 nylon tube, small piece of tube, another 1/8NPT male fitting for the nylon in to a NPT T, then ran the sending unit and turbo feed off of the T. It's impossible to write this without being confusing.

DON'T DO IT. It ISN'T the same. I did just that, and when I tried to put the correct BSPT adapter in (After using the NPT which didn't seal that well), it didn't want to go in because the NPT cross threads it. Just do it right the first time. It sucks tapping the block while the motor is in the car.

well what i am doing, is putting a male union which is 1/8 BPST (male on both sides) into the block, so it will go in without any problems, then onto that, I am going to put a tee on it. but the BPST tee's cost like $20 cause the local supplier had to order it. I heard that my BPST union will thread into my NPT tee ok. with the teflon, it will make up for the discrepencys. is that true??

I think it makes more sense to get one of those Autozone BPST-NPT adapters and then you can use cheap parts with no worries.

Yeah my Sunpro fitting broke and left the male threaded end in my block. Took a while to get it back out. Brass SUCKS, too weak.

I think that's the point - if you're using any adapters you MUST use a flexible hose to the Tee or else you've got all that weight cantilevered and vibrating on a work-hardened brass fitting. It's just ASKING to fall off.

Right, brass will break off if it has a heavy T, oil pressure sending unit, and oil feed line suspended 3 inches away from it. You need to do the flex hose thing.
