I know that a lot of you run Omnipower suspensions. Maybe this was a freak accident but none the less...this is just an FYI. I don't know if it affects the set-ups you guys run:

Only a matter of time. I admit I wanted the Omni's for my integra at first because they sounded great. But then I started to see/read bad things and didn't like it myself after driving cars with them installed.

Now I'm happy with my KSports on my WRX and have already been "abusing" it without any problems

EDIT: And whats with all the "new" designs that are supposedly coming out. Why didn't they do some research BEFORE releasing the coilover setup. Things as simple as shock length (on CRX app) and clearance (on Subaru setup) should have been taken care of before people ran into problems

I've read on other posts that "some may" have been on the end users install....this is def. not the case. That's pretty damn crazy.

On the other hand, it happens, and probably just a bad batch of metal on this one side.

It looks like authorized dealers of omnipower are taking care of their customers. It appears that there is a newer/thicker designed shock collar, 10mm instead of the .084

as I stated in the RR/AX forum:

I just spoke with Robear Racing, and have been told that omni is swapping them out for ones with thicker(10mm) walls. Call Omnipower with your receipt from the vendor, and they'll either bill you for a set of the replacements and then refund the money when you send your current ones back, or you can send them in and they'll send new ones, depending on how you want to do it and if you can change them out for a bit.

Just thought I'd give a heads up for anyone else who might be using them.

More details once I speak with Omnipower myself.

Omni =cheap and you get what you pay for. This is not the first time I've seen this same malfunction. Saw this happen to Inline Pro and NOPI drags

The subject car was a 900whp drag race car. The forces experienced in the front suspension on that car may be just a little more than the average street car. Nevertheless Omni has redesigned the lower units.

A 900 hp car shouldn't be using an omni suspension.
Shouldn't that car have enough sponsors to get him a really good suspension, or better yet custom from a sponsor?
Regardless big up to omni for the fixing of what was wrong.

They are made in China and prob..cost 100$ a set to make ..what do you
expect they are cheep...i have had to sets with no problems but you get what you pay for.

these posts about the lower collars snapping...

i got omnis. totaled the car. 1 hub/fork got hit really hard and it looks smashed. but the omni piece that's in there is still straight and reusable. this was front end dmg, the passenger front.

could these 'omnis snapping' be a result of over-torquing the bolt? (sp?)

just read a couple more posts about this issue.

from the looks of it, it appears the lower collar snapped because the material was really thin on the lower portion. ALSO, over-torquing the bolt probably played a role in some of the incidents.

anyway, omni is sending out free replacements for the front lower collars. just contact the omni dealer you purchased from, and they can get you thicker lower collars.

not sure about anyone else, but i would feel safe and still use omnipowers with the thicker lower collars. at least omni came up with a solution, relatively fast.
