Re: short shifter (egzo04)
when it says
"****All Short Shifters are ALL SALES FINAL."
that is generally not good..

H-T Order of Merit
Re: (egzo04)
like Andrew SIR posted. Those are the only true short shifters for the Accord and Prelude. Have heard many good things about them. The adapters you see on eBay and such have mixed reviews. I heard many people say they are notchy and some have said they work fine. If you go with an adapter, make sure research it to make sure it has good reviews first. But personally, if I still had my Accord I wouldn't even bother with an adapter and I would get the Pspec or Forbidden shifter. Search the Accord forum, you'll see other threads about these shifters as well.

Re: short shifter (accord478)
a quick google search tells me that is just an adapter. yes, there is one for Accords but I wouldn't waste money on an adapter, save up and get a PSPEC or Forbidden.

Re: short shifter (TouringAccord)
We tested some short-shift adapters on our Accord (94 ex) and hated them. I know the PSPEC and Forbidden shifters are quite a bit more expensive, but they are worth it.

Re: short shifter (FarinaMotorsports)
A short shifter is fairly easy to make if you have decent fab skills. Mine is about 3" throw and solid as a mo fo! To make the actual shifter shorter do as follows. Pull the actual shifter lever out and there is 2 peices, one cast and one mild steel that the factory has welded together to make your shifter. Cut a 1/16" groove around the mild steel rod (shifter) just on top of the weld. Now pry and pull the 2 peices apart and you'll find that they are press fit and welded. Now just cut your shifter down about 1" - 1 1/4" and press it back together and seal the deal with a solid weld. Now you have a factory placement stubby shifter. Now take your stock shifter and cut the tab off that has the pin where the shift linkage attaches and weld it (along with some reinforcement tabs) higher up on the stick. I welded mine up about 1 1/2" higher. You could go higher and get shorter throw but you could run into "too hard" shifting. Now where the shift links mount to the base plate just cut that off, raise it about 1" to avoid linkage binding. Weld it all up and bolt it back in. I pulled the rubber bushings out from the base plate, and with some shorter bolts and washers I solid mounted the assembly. Now I have a very firm, smoothe short throw with $0 dollars outta pocket! Well maybe $10 for welding supplies. If anyone is interested let me know and i'll get some pics up. Once you pull your shifter assembly out and look at it you'll see what i'm talking about. Just cut it, it's only metal! Sounds like a lot of work but it takes maybe 1 hour and saves alot of $$! Besides, you made it and it's truly custom.

Re: (egzo04)
between the PSPEC and Forbidden short shifters have you heard any differences or anyone say ones better than the other?? have any preferences bewteen the 2?? because i was looking and by price they seem close but the PSPEC offers a package but it seems overpriced for the things you get with it (shift boot and ****) but i just wanted to know if one was better than the other?? thanks

Re: short shifter (JGAccorn)
Ok so I just realized my homemade shifter is exacily like that adapters you guys speak of. Mine is just made. And a little smoother probably. I was installing shift cables in an Accord at work and just kinda thought it would work so I went home and started cutting. I think it is great. Very smoothe and very solid shifts.

here is one of the sticky threads. from what i have read the past couple of years, these are the only two you should spend money one. expensive but most say its one of the best mods they added. sure you can make your own. if you know what your doing. but for most of us, your better off just paying the price and at least install it yourself.
