How to Instal OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT?????
Well i just gont done instaling all my new gauges. And the only thing that i'm having a problem with is my Oil pressure gauge, where do i instal the Oil pressure sending unit ???? my motor is a 97 SOHC V-Tec (D16Y8). if some one could please tell me the best and easyest way to do it. Thanks

on the back of the block beside the oil filter there's a 1-wire plug w/ a black boot. thats the OEM oil psi dummy light sensor. You need to remove it and put a fitting in for the sending unit for that guage.
alot of people run a braided line as show in these pics because the vibration of the motor and weight on the little fitting can break it (happened to me).
The best way is to run a line and a line only from that port up to the firewall and use fittings there for all the oil related crap.

check out http://www.tunertoys.com they have a special fitting that matches the block.
the female hole in the block is 1/8 BSPT
the OEM sensor is male 1/8 BSPT
MOST aftermarket sendingunits are 1/8 NPT.
this special fitting incorporates ALL those in one solid fitting. (have 2 female 1/8 NPT holes and includes a plug for one if u only use one)

ok, but the autometer pressure sending unit will go right in the block Right?

It should.....
But the point is that you dont want to put the sending unit right on the block. I've read to many posts about people having the weight of the sending unit break the connection off the block.
Mount it on the firewall.

That is a good way but I find an easy and better way is to
Get an oil filter sandwich plate, and an oil line and your done. I have mine mounted like the ones in the pic though.
DO NOT MOUNT IT RIGHT OFF THE BLOCK
I have seen them break while driving, horrible thing to witness

It has to be grounded, either from the block when you screw it into the block or when you mount it on your firewall.

Same exact way, but with an ls/vtec you should already have a sandwich plate between the oil filter and block, and I know most sandwich plates have about 3 holes on them.

Would this fitting be considered "too heavy" to hang off the port on the block or is it fine?

the fitting is like 19$ and NO i wouldn't hang the sending unit off it. The vibration will snap it (LIKE IT DID TO ME).
Mount it all to the firewall like in the second pic w/ the maroon car for 2 reasons.
1. Don't have to worry about the weight breaking the fitting.
2. With all that crap down there a line would make it much easier to change the filter.

The sandwich plate can be had for about 50 bucks, they sell knock off brand which are around 30. Here is how I have mine at the moment.

the sending unit you have will not screw directly into the block because the oil filter gets in the way. i had mine screwed into the block with some brass fittings to get it away from the oil filter. BAD IDEA! the steel braided line and mounting on the firewall is a great idea that heavy sending unit anapped off in the block more than once and it is not a pretty thing. my question is where do yiou get a steel braided line with the right threads ( gas line metric ) cuz the only lilne i can find fits but will leak. thanks

well about an hour i took my car down to a friends shop (http://www.blueridgemotorsports.com/) and what i used was a steel braided line from a paintball gun (re-mote bottle opener), and got a few brass fittings from Napa. well we got it all hooked up and i started the car and it went up to about 90 PSI's and then when i hit the gas it goes back down to 0 PSI's. why would that be??? if any one has some idea please let me know.
Could i have some wiring messed up?

Mine did the same thing and iit turned out to be a bad ground! I have mine mounted on the firewall now for a while and it works great!

Gosh your friend owns a shop and did not know the obvious ? Yes its bad ground
Look around, there all over. People sell them for cheap also.
