Default Rocket Motorsports KTeller Spec'd H22 H22a Cams and Valvetrain Dyno

Update: 6/25/2005 Tuned
Update: 6/7/2005 Tuning Session scheduled for 6/25/2005
Update: 6/4/2005 Cam and valvetrain install completed
Update: 5/29/2005 Baseline dyno before cam install at the bottom of this post

I have seen at least 20 threads where people are looking for dyno's on a good setup, not jdogg's bent valve mess . This thread is for anyone that actually has a dyno to post up.

I just got in my parts recently, here are some teaser pics. I am currently swapping my h22 out of my ek into an eg so I won't be getting dynos until around mid-late june hopefully sooner.

My Setup thus far (well, the parts that make power anyway):
Fake J's Racing Intake w/ K&N Filter
EuroR Intake Manifold
Hondata IM Gasket
Balance Shaft Belt Removed
AN-R Header with 2.5" Street Collecter
Mandrel Bent KTeller Exhaust 2.5"
Magnaflow ES Oval Style Muffler 2.5"
Tuned via Uberdata or Crome

Update: 5/29/2005
Baseline, everything above and a street tune. Max torque is down simply b/c of a tuning issue around VTEC crossover. Just to repeat in case you get confused.

THIS GRAPH IS NOT WITH THE ROCKET MOTORSPORTS H22 REGRINDS. IT IS A BASELINE FROM 5/29/2005.

What's Going on the car:
Kteller Spec'd H22 Regrinds - 240 duration at 0.050 and 11.5mm lift for both in/ex
R/M Springs & Retainers
Skunk2 H22 Cam Gears
Stock Throttle Body overbored to 66mm with Taper

Notes:
Engine still has stock compression of 10.6:1
The head is untouched
The block is untouched
Around 60,000 Miles on the motor
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update: 6/27/2005

Well I got some numbers. They aren't great numbers, but they are good numbers. I can tell you this much and I saw it for myself, it was hard to get these things to budge from the baseline.
Ending cam timing was +2, -1 as I picked up the most torque from it.

I'll explain the biggest things first. Obvious things first, these cams made no substantial gains in power over my jdm cams. I did pick up some midrange, but if you compare that to my original dyno, it was a baseline w/ no tuning. I spent three hours on the dyno and pretty much got disappointed the entire time. Pay no attention to the AFR on the graph as it didn't always read correctly.

You'll notice I have two lines there, one is with VTEC @ 3500 the other is at 5100. The reason I put this up is b/c the primaries would not carry any power at all. The lower I set vtec the more midrange power I made. However, the lower I set vtec the more I lost up top. There was that power dip at 5000 rpms that, no matter what the settings were, the lines wouldn't budge.

I can pretty much say I'm disappointed at the final numbers. I thought after those baselines that 210whp would be easily within reach.

lol sorry, it was also kind of a call out to see if anyone else had them. I know kteller has sold at least 10 sets now and someone has had to have had them dyno tuned.

New cores, no specs that are available now...

Im gonna work with Rocket on the new H series stuff

Im sure when theyre done Mike will have those for sale too, Mike "AKA" Kteller is one of the best when it comes to customer service and is always keeping a close eye on the markets new offerings. If his customers want it, he gets it, no matter what it is or how many hoops of fire he has to jump through to get it

Gotta wait for the new cores to come out though. I hope its not too long. I've had a lot of serious inquiries about H series cams.

Just as an FYI, I'm going to the dynojet on Sunday to get some baseline numbers for comparison. Blah blah blah, yes I know, hard to compare dynos not on the same day. Well it's the best I could do, just be happy that I plan on coming back to the same dyno afterwards to do a comparison run, no matter where I do my actually tuning.

im also deciding if i should buy these. I am pulled between keeping my h22 civic and modding it or selling my civic and buying a new one so i can do the H2B and a built motor.

One thing is for damn sure, H22 motors need cams

bump for scooping a set of these cams.

If you look at the baseline of my motor with the 10.6 compression it's quite obvious that these motor are held back by their need to breath. Large intake runners, a good header, and 2.5" exhaust, followed up with tuning will net great gains on the h22a. 2.2 Liters is a force to be reckoned with against even fully built lsvtecs and b20vtecs.

i agree, and add this. once you've gone h22, you can never enjoy a B-series again.

I want to build an H22 (top & bottom) and use the Townsend Bros adaptor kit and mount an ITR tranny to it. OEM axles, Hasport DCSTK mounts, and b-series shift linkages = a killer setup... See ya later b20/vtec's

Well, I actually am thinking along the lines of a higher final drive ratio. Unfortunately for the h-series they are few and far between and very expensive. It was a long time ago, but I think there is one from Saenz for about $6,000.

ive been a firm beliver in that for years...its frustrating when the b series got all the good parts ..i mean for a while it was hard to find a 200+whp h22 even with cams

soon as the header rush started thes plenty of 195+whp h22 on stock internal's and bolt ons ..

cant wait to see the results

i finally rented my basement out so i told the wife it goes to the car fund haha id love to pick a set up

The thing is, you can't beat the price @ $480 w/ cores or $530 without. And that's full valvetrain, cams/springs/retainers.
